Needing some hearing aids for turkey hunting. what are some recommendations.

I wear my Axil electronic hearing protection it has worked well

I use Walker's Game Ears. It one of their models that cost about $80.

Can't tell which direction sound is coming from but you can sure hear it.

New or experienced hunters between the ages of 18-27 work for me.

I had a young guy (early twenties) hunting spring gobblers out of my camp with me last year. We hunted together because I was showing him the ropes. We were working two longbeards with a hen that kept circling around us. Several times I thought they were gone and he'd whisper, "I hear them walking over there."

Several other times he heard distant gobbles that I did not.

I was shooting with him and another buddy this morning and they both have them fancy ear muffs that amplify sound but muffle anything over a certain decibel level. They let me try them and they are pretty incredible, they really magnify sounds, they made the wind sound like it was blowing a gale.

Like Swamp Wolf mentioned, I don't know if they'd be any good at discerning sound direction but the sure make it easier to hear it.

I had a set of Walkers game ears for both ears,It does help with direction when you have
them in both ears. But a chipmunk came running towards me in the dry leaves, and i thought
it was 3 or 4 deer running my way! I have to turn them up, because of my ears ringing.

I wear some older walker game ear muffs, This morning me and another man were working a turkey for a kid and he was one of those hot 2 year old birds that hang up about 150 yards and just gobbles every 3 minutes. I decided to take the muffs off to just see if I could hear him. Well with them off I could not hear him with them on I could hear him but not real good. So I guess it is time to purchase something more up to date. On a good note the young hunter walked out of the woods toting a good bird with a big smile on his face.

I may have to look into those. Close up gobbles (150yds or less) I’m ok. 151yds or farther I’m deaf, lol. We were walking the other day and I hit the crow call and Zac says, “There he is” and pointed. I looked at him like he was stupid and said there what is?? He told me about how far he thought so we went on another 100yds or so and I hit it again and I heard it. We had to be inside of 100-150 cause by the time we got our hides and I hit the glass he was there less than a minute or two later.

they make better yet but for 60 dollars these work really well

they make ones with each ear independent adjust volume

when you take a class and the instructor is behind you , turn them around so the mics point back can help also
we carry on decent conversations with them in the range all the time
