I have a bunch of bigalo killer traps and just looked up value on line and they were from $40 to $90 each. I was shocked. I only used them a couple times as they were a horrible trap catching on side of neck and not killing. I almost cut my right middle finger tip off in a 8” one about 47 years ago. Anyone know anything about these traps

They looked like a good way to bang up a guys fingers I bought a few and sold them a short time later.

Started in 1925 and the earlier ones had a brass trigger. Made in basically 6,8,10,12 and 14 inch with minor size variations. Pretty common trap with the exception of the brass trigger ones and the 14 inch commanding the most money. There were a few dozen square ones made that would qualify as the holy grail for the bigelow trap. Caught my first fox in one and I caught a raccoon high on a rear leg and never set one after that.

And to think, I threw them out when they came with a box of traps I has interest in at a convention years ago

They seem to be fairly common, I'm surprised they are that valuable.

I see them on eBay cheaper for the 8 inch a lot. That must be there most common size. Bought a 14 inch for $45 not long ago

I had a couple and every time I tried to set them I got my fingers pinched.

When I caught my finger in one I was just pulling my hand away and it went off. It completely closed on the last 1/2 “of my finger and blood was flowing freely. I thought it cut my finger clean off. To this day my finger nail will separate 3/4 way down and turn a funny color then heal up again. I was in the basement and ran up stairs for a towel and laid on the floor and the throbbing started. My poor mom watching of course. That trap was more like a guillotine and a stupid design for several reasons
