I have a 2x4 tractor and learned early that I need chains to get through snow and mud. For 8 years I have put them on with tie wire 16ga tie together and put on the tire to take up the slack I used a keeper and that worked for awhile. I don't know if theses chains fit my tires! [Linked Image]

Not really sure what your asking.anytime I've put chains on a tractor I've used the rubber bungee straps to keep them tight.put them on the inside and outside.i took chains that were too long and cut them down to make them fit.did you buy the chains that were supposed to fit your tire size or did you buy a set at a farm sale hoping they would fit.

Cross pieces should not overlap, obviously sidestraps do. Tighten inside first, then as you run it keep tightening outside. Tie the inside sidestrap with wire, so it doesn’t rip brake lines off.

When I bought the tractor he gave me the chains. Now I put them on and they stay for awhile and fall off. I don't know if there the right size or not I also hook them with the rubber keeper I bought. I just want them to stay on.

You can bypass the crosslinks to get them tight, or you can remove the extra crosslinks so the chains fit your tires.

That piece goes back thru a link in the chain and gets pushed down thru the link then there should be a keeper you slide back over that piece and it will hook into the keeper to keep the chains on.you want to pull the chains tight enough so that piece goes thru the farthest link back you can reach.

There is a train tightener block stick it through loop in the chain cam it over, hook it back into the chain. If you cam did over that’s how you tighten it as it’s been said before you tighten them inside first, where the chain is balanced inside and out then you fasten that cam lock that you showed and then start with your budgies training all the way around

Sorry about the spellchecker and voice activated microphone can’t text anymore so I have to use technology that doesn’t work

Oh, by the way, just in case you droop the chains over the top not try and pull them up from the bottom lol. I’ve seen drivers do that a lot.

Let the air out of the tire, install chains tightly, fill back up with air.

I'll tell you how I use my chains. I use a quick link Probably 3/8" thick. These are my fasteners on each side . I jack up 1 tire at a time. Alows me to rotate the tire. Put my chain over the tire. Rotate so I can put quick links on at the bottom either in front of or the back of the tire. Fasten the inside one first. Then outside. I have my connecting chains only long enough to put the links on. Do other side the same. I don't use any bungees or other fasteners. Never had a chain come off. May not be absolutely right but works well for me. When you put the chain on make sure to center it and remove the slack as you work it down the tire.

put bungee cord on the inside of the wheel first and then do outside

You can still let air out of the tires if they are filled. They should onlybe filled to the top of therim leaving space from the rim to the tire that is filled with air. I install several sets of chains a year at work and if you dont get them tight they will fall off. You should have about 15 psi in the rear tires, jack it up let the air out and fit the chains tight. Then air back up. Just make sure your valvestem is up top when letting air out.

Thanks I'll try that.
