I hear ramps called leeks a lot. I found about them late in life during a trip to WV. The guys who introduced me to them were adamant that they have similarities to leeks, onions and garlic but not the same as any of them. I heard someone say "hipsters" call them ramps but I have always called them ramps and considered myself the antithesis of a hipster.

.....and leaks are what you get in your plumbing. Only called ramps around me. Dug a bunch this weekend and got just about as many tiny deer ticks off me as I did ramps.

Trash your goals and plans for life. Just wing it and you'll never be let down!

We call them ramps. What I have read as the definition of ramps is that ramps are wild leeks.

this the trouble with using common names when identifying plants or animals.

Wild leeks are the same as ramps in my area, correct taxonomical name Allium tricoccum.
There are different species of wild leeks that I have 2 in my woods. In addition to ramps there is a wild leek I have known as Narrow- leaved Wild Leek (Allium burdickii)

The more one delves into plants the more you realize that using common names is a inferior way to identify them, especially with people that deal with them a lot more than you..

When I was still in grade school , a friend showed me about them , but called them wild garlic, his father was from PA.
We had spaghetti for dinner and we went into the woods to dig some for a side dish.
They moved back there after 6'th grade.
I called them wild garlic until I worked with some guys from WV and they brought some to work.
What I thought were wild garlic are what they called ramps.
