eric space OP trapper E Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 1,254 wantage n.j.	Took a walk in the rain yesterday to get this picture. This woodlot is being logged off and this old beech is marked to go. Carving is hardly legible but it says " FRED 1948 ". My father carved it on his 20th birthday. Up until a few years ago it was easy to read. Farther up on the trunk are scars from bear cub claws as they climbed the tree. The cubs made stick and leaf "nests" in the branches. Tree was cut today.

Bigbrownie trapper B Joined: Mar 2018 Posts: 3,205 Pa.	Years ago, I was hunting a property in Utah. The guide pointed out a big aspen tree with the letters TB carved deep into the bark. Folks there claimed it was made by Ted Bundy, who had been in that area.
