Willoughby trapper Joined: Feb 2024 Posts: 44 Montana	I have both and I see very little difference in performance -however I do prefer the safety position on the 500 - but other than that the are very dependable just point and shoot if your lucky enough to live in the BIG woods your lucky enough

The Beav trapper T Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 23,867 Wisconsin	Well I have a mossburg 500 The first problem I had with It Is that safety would engage all On It's own. I sent It In and It was fixed. Then It seems to not what to shoot turkeys. That gun has not fired on 5 turkeys. Then you can take It and run 3 rounds through It and It will fire every time. The last time I used It I pulled the trigger and It clicked I pulled the trigger again and It fired. I hate that gun. The forum Know It All according to Muskrat

I hate that gun. part of that is why I replace the plastic safety with metal as it was when it passed the 1000 round tests click then click with out racking the slide or you did rack the slide I have seen bolts get very gummed up with oil America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

The other times It missed fired the primers didn't seem to be dented enough. And I had that gun cleaned and It still did It. And It ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I HAVE A TURKEY IN MY SIGHTS. Far as I know the guy still has it. I doubt he used it as much as I did though. I also had the Mossberg 500 in 410-great little gun,killed a ton of grouse and rabbits with it then gave it to my cousin in Ireland for pigeon and snipe shooting. Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.
