For those of you that have been shipping some castor the last few years, how long is it taking after a sale for it to show up on your accounts? I think they sell or account for castor sales sometime during the week following a sale?

I know they update their sales report to show castoreum prices in the days after a sale. I just don't remember how long that is.

BTW, I was able to see that my shrinkage was approximately 18% this go around. That is significantly lower than the last time I shipped castor to North Bay. It will be interesting to see how I fared when I'm able to plug in all the numbers: price per oz, percent that sold, and 11% commission deduction, compared to what I sold at association sales for roughly $40/lb with a 6% sales commission.

29% is a big hit! Would have to average $53 to equal association sale prices.

Plus 11 percent commission equals approximately a 29 percent hit.

I'll never sell castor to FHA again. I have shipped castor that hung for a week and some that had hung for 2 months. Almost every time they hit me for about 30 percent.
I trust them on fur but not castor.

I've said for a long time don't ship castor.

And I've agreed with you Steven. But when association sales were talking about $20-25 castor offers and FH had a category for my section of castor that was in the $100 ballpark I figured I had little to lose to send a sample.

I understand what you did Carl, I'd have counciled to hold and wait but I wouldn't be able to put a large percentage in the 100 class

To answer your original question, I would wager you won't see a castor price until prompt date

If memory serves they usually update the sale report to show castor sales maybe a few days to a week after the sale? Presumably my account would be updated at the same time?

I'm just guessing, I have shipped castor in 20 years.

They usually post a notice on their web site when the castor sells. Might be faster than checking your account. Once the notice is posted, then check your account.

Most of my castor sold for $40/lb at various assoc. sales. 6% commission taken from that.

They had this posted last fall bragging up that they had sold a bunch?

https://www.furharvesters.com/pdf/castoreumupdate_2023.pdf

CASTOREUM UPDATE - OCTOBER 2023

Over the past few weeks we have received several new customers calling and placing
orders for castoreum. This is good news and we are confident that prices on all three
grades will improve in 2024.

They sell it private treaty all the time when they get orders.
Normally 200lbs at a time.
They still had almost all of the #2 grade from 2022/2023 season.
