Didn’t want to mention that. Figured overwhelming an “older” guy like yourself might just put you over the edge!!!

But yeah, here’s the deal with a suppressor…Once you shoot a gin with one, you won’t want to ever shoot one without one, lol!!! I’m pulling the trigger on another as well, lol. I just want to shoot to hear that bullet travel and the thwack of impact. With that said, you definitely know when you miss too! That’s the sound you DON’T want to hear…just that bullet!

Not a hired gun, just paid for what I kill whether it’s caught and shot or just shot.

I've shot supressed .308 Remington 700 and a 6.5 CM Ruger American. I liked!

Gotta spend this beaver $$ on something...

And e-callers aren’t cheap like they used to be either!! I’m about to teach myself about coon calling too. From the videos I’ve been watching that’s about as fun as nighttime calling.

There were 3 of us in the truck the other night and just from rifles, thermals, and callers I think we had about $2K in e-callers. $3300 in thermals. And about another $2500 in rifles, mine was the cheapest!

I have had an ATN 640 1-10X for four years now. When I first got it, I had trouble getting the definition I thought I should have. I called them and they were very responsive. I ended up sending it back to them, they found nothing wrong and sent it back. They advised that I get somewhere I could put my rifle on a tripod with a live target in view and try different settings until I got it dialed in. I did that and within ten minutes I had a great sight picture. The specs list the identification range of my scope at 225 yards. I would say it is a little less than that for a deer or hog. Would be much less for a rabbit or coon.

We can hunt a lot of predators and beavers and nutria at night. If you are wanting to mainly hunt hogs, the scope I have is fine if you pare it with the right rifle. I started with it on a 6.5 grendel but the rifle could easily outshoot the scope. I now have it on a .450 bushmaster and it is a hog killer. My son has a high dollar halo thermal and he can shoot a beaver in the head with it at 200 yards. He has his scope on a .224 valkyrie. You arent doing that with my scope. To be honest, even though my scope is a 1-10, using it above 4 power is not that great.

My rifle and scope is great for hogs. I set up my feeders for 50 yards as it gives me much more effective second thru seventh shots. I would say maximum range of my scope on hogs is about 150 yards where there is still some definition. But that is also the maximum range of my rifle. My son in law has a bare bones atn, I think base power is 4. His rifle is $1000 less than mine. He can shoot a hog at 300 yards and has it mounted on a .308. It doesnt record and not sure what else it doesnt do.

My rifle has lost zero one time in four years. I do worry about the longevity - it is electronics and I have no hope of it lasting forever. If I had it to do over again, I would probably go for a higher base power, further identification range, and no video, bluetooth, pictures, etc. I knew nothing about a thermal when I bought mine - had only ever looked through one in my life. I have seen the sketchy reviews of the ATN’s. When I bought mine, the only other thermal I had ever looked at was a Pulsar and it definitely had a better sight picture but also had a higher base power and was $3000 more which I could not do

I don't have that much time looking through one to really say one way or the other. I think the AGM had 4 or 5 profiles to chose from. I would guess depending on the terrain and humidity one profile may serve better than the other.

I own two suppressors but was borrowing a friends setup so didn't have one on it. I have the silencerco omega (30 cal and under) and a .22 sparrow. I'm pleased with both.

when I pull the trigger on a thermal, I believe I will set it up on an AR platform chambered in 6.8 SPC equipped with the Omega can. Probably 18" barrel so its easier to maneuver in a box stand and a 50 mm objective scope for easier follow up shots.

Right now PSA has an AR chambered in 6.8 spc equipped with a night-vision scope for $800 out the door. Scope retails for $400. I would sell, or trade, the night vision and pick up a thermal monocular for scanning. Using the thermal scope mounted on the gun for scanning seems like it would get bothersome.

I think if someone wanted to get into night hunting and was on a budget the way to go would be a night vision scope coupled with a thermal monocular. You can pick up a good night vision scope for 5 to 600 bucks and a thermal monocular for about the same. Use the monocular to locate and then switch over to the night vision scope.

I had shot tons of hogs with a red light on my rifle - maximum range 100 yards - and bought a night vision scope and IR Illuminator. I only used it about three months and went back to a red light. I would often see the burnt propellant coming out of the barrel through the night vision, obscuring a second shot. I found it much easier to pick up a second target or follow up shot with a red light. The thermal scope is a game changer over a night vision - easy to see targets in grass and cover.

Have about decided to pull the trigger on the AGM Rattler Version2 35mm 384 resolution.

Great reviews on these V2 units. Have watched and read hundreds of reviews and videos. I think this unit will perform as needed.

Upgraded sensor. 3x base magnification.

Comes with 2 rechargeable batteries (9 to 11 hrs per battery) and charger.

Records audio. Bigger and simpler control buttons.

Comes with QD cantilever mount with return to zero. I like the size of the unit as opposed to a long scope tube. Can take it off and use as a monocular/scanner when hunting with buddy or just looking.

Nearly all of my shots will be less than 150 yds...most a lot less. From a stand, blind, or walking.

Gonna start it on my Bushmaster AR .223.

SW take it from me, you really want at least 640 resolution. Personally I'd steer away from the AGMs.

If you are thinking a suppressor, buy one now, it will most likely take 10 months. I ordered one in mid-September, got the email last week that I have been approved by the ATF, couple more weeks I should have it in hand. That is actually a fast turn around, little lucky. My first one took closer to year.

Can't afford to fork out $4000+ for a quality 640.

What's the negatives with the V2 AGMs? They are supposedly made in AZ.

I did learn quickly not to buy an ATN product.

Watched a video yesterday of an Iray 1280. Wow!

Costs $16 thousand...Wow!

I had an atn, my biggest problem with it was too low resolution and not a 640. I moved up to bearing optics and still don't have 640, wish I did lol.

No, it's not. Get back to us when you have a thousand or two hours behind one in all type of conditions. Fog, hoar frost, flurries high humidity etc.

Well maybe the absolute best is overrated as in 16 k although if I made a half million a year i'd own one.

You will love the IRay. They have a lot of options and settings that you can dial in to whatever you like. I upgraded my son’s AGN Rattler to the IRay Rico 42mm. I have a Pulsar Thermion 2 XQ35. It’s a great scope, but I find myself using the IRay when he can’t go. The AGN rattler will work for ya. If your inside 200 yards and something the size of hogs. It will do all you ask of it. Still use ours, now it just sits on a shotgun. Or we take it off and use it to scan with. We hunt 2 nights a week at least from January to September. So get a lot of time behind one.

This^^^ is 1280 resolution.

Overpriced, but definitely not over rated. That is a very clear image. Zoom in on the detail. 1st pic is 384 resolution.

I almost went with the Pulsar or the Iray but I like the size of the AGM...instead of the scope tube...as it will be used as a scanner a lot.

Next year's beavers and predators & fur check may buy another to remain on the rifle.

Swamp Wolf, you’ll be pleased with the AGM for what you’ll be using it for. It becomes addicting.

Wolfdog, I can tell by that statement you don’t hunt enough to know what’s good or not, lol. If you looked through one compared to a cheap model, then you’d understand. If you got paid to kill at night, you definitely wouldn’t buy the cheapest out there and potentially lose money.

AirportTrapper, you’ll like that iRay. I have the Bolt TH50 and love it.

My understanding is it's the best 384 on the market. I can't justify a 640 price tag yet.
