Nice work. I had heard we were closing in on quota for otter (2500). Lots of discussion on what to do when we hit it. Frankly, they should let it ride, but it also should have been raised to 3000 already.

Thanks Moosie Nice! Are you only allowed 2? Yes allowed 2 per year. Very nice looks like everything aligned for you Yup feels like I know what I'm doing, but I'm sure next week will kick me back to reality lol. Nice! Looks like a nice castor collection too. Going to grind in the next week or so then age for a few months maybe a year or two with some. I want to try some different things and see how they react

It's nice you can do that in spring....we got a catch n release season I hear talk of extending our season. Unless they raise the limit a guy that actually traps will still be surrendering Otter.

Higher beaver prices increase otter harvest. We worry too much about otter. They are plenty thick! Should double the tags.
How can several other states have higher quotas or no limits sustain harvest? We must have way better otter trappers in WI. We are crushing MN otter harvest and we can only harvest two per person versus their 4. I set two traps tonight. Probably have three in the morning. Lol Sorry for hijacking your thread. Love to see dead water wolves so I just can’t help myself!

Now that is an efficient trapping ratio Ben! Don't get any better than that! Filled my 2nd tag yesterday also with a24.8 lb toothless old male. Only a few days soak on this trap too, alot quicker than than 1st one this year which was set for a month. Congrats!

Nice job , seems from comments the limit should be higher.
I don't know , just going by what's been posted. IMHO too many bleeding hearts are infiltrating the DNR of many states any more.

A little springy but just the tips rolling. I usually don't set for otter just save the tags for incidentals but I want to try Bocos tanning methods and the nephew wants fur for his wall.
