Nimzy did the water level drop a lot or did the colony make that feed bed with that much exposure above the water level?

Bryce I don’t believe the water dropped too much. The feed pile was kinda the reason I snapped the photo. It’s really impressive.

Walt I posted that photo last night and then took a better look at It. I thought boy those are some hard shadows, I’ll have some fun with it. Your logic is absolutely correct. I woulda drug it along a bit longer lol.

Side note. This weather sucks

I might add it’s a shallow pond.

57 years trapping. It's who I am. Every day is still as exciting as it was when I was a kid but a little more work.

This weather kind of put a damper on the under ice beaver trapping. I managed to snag one good one in a snare this past weekend. Hopefully the poles froze in for a night or 2 after the reset ....if not the wolves may have eaten well.

I wish I'd had this big dude to run the ice spud on the cold years.

[Linked Image]

I tried out some RBGs and have caught a few. This one somehow got a long ways thru this one. The trap was set in a run a long way from the house or a bank den so I don't know how he had enough speed to get that far into it......maybe the trap go caught on the ice or something.

My helper came up with a unique way to hold the otter board down while pulling pins for me. He also has been getting quite a weasel line set in the back yard....so far only mice.

Forever in debt to my Father who introduced me to trapping.
May I be half the man he was.

Saw that same scenario time and again in Marinette county, think it’s the same pack? I regret not taking the time to photograph it. Be careful out there you and those beaver are the only thing left.

Great pictures Jordy. Looks like you have a future professional trapper and fur handler in the making.

Was tending to a beaver set today standing in thigh deep water and when I turned to leave, a muskrat was about 5 feet away swimming for all he was worth against the current towards my leg. Don't know who scared who the worst, but hope it stays away from my beaver set or it won't end well for it.

Anoney have a pic and or dimensions of WI legal cubbies for 160 and 220? Would love some that could slide inside each other for transport.

I don’t you have anything to worry about on 160s. Any plan would work.

Just put a taper on your box so they slide inside of each other. 220 will need to be recessed required distance so you would need to be more careful about plan you use.

Nice beaver JSell. Looks like way too much work for this guy. I noticed some otter sign in the pond today so I decided to stop and throw in a couple sets. It was two step trapping.

Looks like your having a great season Jordy. Where's your boat ? I just put rat no. 253 for the year on a stretcher today, along with yesterday's otter and some mink I had in the freezer. Been guarding beaver and otter sets with a few rat sets to try and keep them out but except for incidentals that's over in this zone now. I still hope to get a few more beaver before the close also.
