Figure I would contribute with some recent success I had at the lake. The unseasonably warm weather had the winds low and the fish moving a bit. Juvenile whitefish are moving up to catch some rays and the lakers are on their tails. I managed to locate a few spots on a huge lake that i could target some on the fly. Caught 7 over the weekend and had a great solo day catching 5 by myself. 37# worth for the 5. Long armed the one big fish at 33”.
Tight chains turned into tight lines. Canned 15 pints to relish in a warm wall tent come this fall. Spring in here! [Linked Image]

To be honest they are usually beating up the perch juveniles. So i tie these. The one in the foreground caught the seven this weekend. I montana my clousers up a bit and use mt goat and bear hair. Its not hollow like bucktails so it get down deeper (in theory) and is more durable. 20lb fluro on a 8-9ips full sink line. 8wt

trolling? casting? I like fishing for lakers by jigging with the mitchell spinning real and 6 pound white crystalline. Not a fan of trolling......jk

That is where my son goes, and yes, there are some whales they have caught.

Fishing flathead lake. I dont troll. I cast that fly out there and strip it back in. Targeting fish between 5-25’. My big fish on the fly was a 38” at 17lb. It was a hoot

That is crazy cool! 5 spots just came to mind in NW Ontario where I always see them dimpling in the evening when it’s calm. And any calm day when the flying ant hatch is on. Gotta try the fly!!
