This little guy was orphaned, no fault of his/her own. He had no fear and actually followed me up the bank. My wife about had a fit over him. I'll admit he was a cute little feller....but we are not permitted to rehab....nor do we have the room/time for that.

Wife knew a permitted wildlife rehabber that has rehabbed and released 4 beavers in the past. She came and picked him up. Wife talked with her again this morning and the little beav is doing well. Rehabber says it is a 2 year commitment. So, I knew then that she knew what she was doing because she was familiar with beaver social structure.

I couldn't make myself add him to the nuisance beaver total. I think he was the only surviving kit.

This^^° it's removed, contract probably doesn't say dispatched just removed not how I would guess.

I have taken things to rehab's the most recent was an owl with broken leg I picked up on the side of the interstate Thanksgiving a few years back. They sent me a video when they finally released it. I have also raised and released it keep treated and feed tell health several animals personalty. It's a lot of work and time commitment depending on the animal and it's age. I have never seen a beaver that small it is cute I don't think I would have put it down either.

Raptors are cool and I've carried a few to the rehabbers over the years. First hooked up with that bunch nearly twenty years ago with a bunch of bats a fool had run through a ceiling fan.

The guy was anti everything but it lead to a shut door sit down heart to heart two hour conversation. Turns out he was a pragmatist as am I. That bunch has been one of my strongest referrals all this time. Got four calls thanks to them just this week.

This beaver work was for a friend a few miles up the road from my residence. Captured the adult pair the 1st couple days....then that little guy shows up. I've lethally removed small beavs b4, but couldn't do it this time....not that small. Softened up I guess with all the killin' I've done over the years.

You prolly just need some testrone supplements and you'll be fine. He is cute I will give him that.

When they follow ya up the bank & all but ask ya for help ya sometimes have to crack. The love vibration tends to kick in at those times

I learned the hard way not to bring one of those to the house, never again! Feeding every 4 hours, mess, noise, etc, etc. But they are pretty cool pets, follow you around the yard like a dog, lol. Mine last three months then died suddenly, gave some to the bham zoo and they did same thing.

I tip my hat to you Swampy. You have a good heart.
I snared a coyote years ago that thought I was there to help him when I walked up. He came towards me totally unafraid.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Of all the things that had to happen the day the wife went along, murphy's law. Lol

At least you didn't have a jagdterrier with you, both of you would be sleeping outside tonight.

And if she's gonna rehab one, he has a survivor attitude.

I just laughed reading this thinking about all the enclosure ideas I have had over the years. Then I thought they beaver may not be as bad, all I need is a low spot ant they make their own habitat. But I have to many fishers in the rocks in the ground around the farm and why I have sink holes and have not tried to put in a lake or pond.
