Love small streams and run off ditches. Usually catch a beaver or two during spring dispersal.

Deadly set for otter and that is why I avoid them in the Spring. Our otter season is closed then and prefer footholds for beaver. When I do set 330's in a small stream in the Spring, I use 2 triggers and dogs set far apart. That is an old trick from Frank Brula. Most otter will only hit one trigger and the trap won't fire. Beaver tend to hit both.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I have had a set by my house in a small stream close to where it empties into a larger one for over a month. Perfect width for a 330 and a natural dive log. It has caught 11 beaver, 2 otter and several muskrats so far. I have moved the triggers all the way to the side and close together since the last otter. Still catching beaver. I didn't check the last two days because we got a ton of rain. Tomorrow I'll probably have another beaver if it didn't get fired by the high water. Most of the winter has been like spring trapping between cold snaps.

Otter in the spring and crawfish in the fall- what isn't to like?

That is a good idea, I had not heard that before.

You could say that again! I feel cheated.
