There are two subspecies here....the Eastern Cottonmouth and the Florida Cottonmouth. The Florida usually is darker with some having a more greenish coloration. Tater rake in one hand. Revolver with snake shot on hip. This time of year I slow way down when I'm in their territory. Plus that spidy sense all us southern trappers have learned.
