I don’t think there is a thing China is not knocking off today down to about everything we use in our daily lives. I was looking for a carb for my 024 Sthil chainsaw one place had one for $19 a China clone. They offered many clone cards for different models then a better brand of a China clone $30. A factory Sthil card is almost $100.

A chainsaw parts just seemed like an odd thing to be worth while cloning those parts if you figure how many people don’t own one.

Yep. Went to my local NAPA and grabbed a replacement fuel/water separator cartridge. I didn’t notice until I got looking at the box once home that the text on the box looked odd. It was branded Raycor, but Chinese made. Took it back for refund and found the real item elsewhere.

What that is is, a company sends tooling to the chinks to make them under contract, then when that order is filled, the dirty -'s use the tooling to make more for export to the country that the tooling came from in direct competition, seriously undercutting the price of course!. They have NO HONOR at all.

The Racor is made in china on the same production line as the knock off .... same goes for the housing.

Amazon sells a lot of Chinese tools that are colored up and marked so they look like they were made by Stihl, Husquvarna, Dewalt and Milwaukee. They never name the real manufacturer in the ads. That should be illegal.

Sounds like the companies sending tooling to China should quit doing that and start manufacturing in America instead.

Manufacturing in the US will not help, they can reverse engineer it, and do that quite often.

Taiwan was the original knock off place years back Japan before that for cheap stuff but China is doing it on steroids the way they are going going for total control or to poison the market.

For the most part, they save more on production cost's from china crap than they lose in knock off sales.

It is a bit of a conundrum. For example

Some manufacturers have brand stuff made in china, then the Chinese do " production overruns' and sell the same things under a slightly different name.
As a consumer, should we just buy the knock of stuff?? that way it hurts the brand manufacturer and they may move production back to their home countries?? Or pay extra for the brand name that is the same as the knock off and made in the same factory ??

There is a place in China for example that makes socks. 99% of the socks in the world are made there. They make them for Nike, Adidas, dickies etc. They are all made in the same town in China.

Yeah, maybe so. There were differences in appearance with the housing and two gaskets. I didn’t want to try an experiment to see if function was the same.

Most of Bass Pro/Cabelas stuff is made in China now I’d guess under stricter guidelines or supervision.

I know a timber faller who bought a stihl knock off chain saw (a big saw) for a fraction of the real stihl, he ran it all season long and never had a bit of trouble with it. And all the real stihl parts will fit it

So what you are saying is they are cloning the clones? LOL......I think the days of finding any made in USA stuff at NAPA is over.

If you haven’t figured it out yet this is war, the whole point of war is to win and that’s what they are focused on everything else is secondary, they have been at war with us almost from the opening of the country, sure they are not shooting at us but they are working hard to conquer us by destroying us economically, to that point they steal everything they can and produce it cheaper then the brand can do if for with the purpose of driving the company out of business so they can then take over

They have done it with TVs, and refrigerators and any number of other things and our politicians are lined up to sell us out at bargain prices

One thing that would make a difference would be to charge an import fee on all products imported from China regardless of where the companies Hq is. Say Gm has parts made in China they pay an import fee. So any company importing even parts pays the import fee

Big companies arent allowed to fail anymore in the US. Propped up by the tax payers (via .gov) who then demand a higher wage in order to maintain a lifestyle they are used to. Compainies just pass on the increased expense to the consumer who happens to be the tax payer. Rinse and repeat.. now you have doodads that cost $10x.

its worse than most of you know.
I worked with a Local US mfg who makes product that gets sold world wide.
They sold a unit (large specialized machinery to make specific products, sales price for one is in the several million US.) to China.
It got "lost" on the docks in China for over a year only to turn up in various stages of disassembly. It was obviously taken and reverse engineered.
About a year and a half after that China starts making and selling competitor product that is a rip off.

I worked in Manufacturing for over 3 decades. I have seen the total lack of integrity by the Chinese, in fact they are proud of their underhanded ways.
I could go on for hours.

Yet the real villain is the American consumer who willing will buy only on price and sell out the western world and a more ethical way of conducting business.

I will gladly pay more for a product made anywhere other than china and if all I can find is made in China I ask myself do I really need this? Pretty much all the time its no, I can live without.

Manufacturering in America is over. Too many environmental laws, rules and regulations. Trump tried to fix it and for 3 years it was coming back, then Joey was appointed and revived all the road blocks. Whether it's listed as GM or China doesn't matter. Every other one coming off the assembly line in China is marked GM. May as well buy the least expensive one.

Lets keep this real shall we !!

China is not the only country doing this several others are as well and our money goes to these countries as well for many different types of reasons !
India, Pakistan, Taiwan, several other smaller Asian country's !!

We even have it here in our own country, with unscrupulous people and small companies doing it.

I've been copied by people on this forum, on my calling unit, when confronted here, do you know what was told me
Well being copied is a true version of flattery LOL, both said the same thing, patents won't protect you, it's up to you and your bank roll and what searching for a lawyer who is interested in what's probably not a media interesting thing to go public with for attention to even consider taking on the action to stop it !

The only way to stop it is don't buy from those who copy our products made and designed here, still then it only takes one sale out of country to some one who feels they can make some quick cash off a small investment to copy, re-engineer to put out there with a different name

I call it out right free theft though as thats what it really is, so before one buys it's really a decision on what you feel is really necessary the need for your buy out of country, or the support to go back into your own !

If you get a patent , you are wasting you're money as well, two ways in doing so and then trying to protect it !

If people wanted to really end the shell game , which it will never happen, is to just not buy anything with a part made in any of these countries, LOL like that will ever happen !!

One can't find all the stuff thats made in other countries that is everything we own now, !!

We have been conditioned to accept the junk we are buying today even if it’s subpar because it’s so common to buy that kind of garbage. Glues that won’t stick the same with electric tape pure trash. Had a tube of wire ties that broke when you zipped them tight. Wife brought home a pooper scooper it had an extendable handle that lasted about 3 minutes before I tossed it.

The wife bought storage containers not cheap either they arrived with a few broken they sent her another set free. They have a button you push that is supposed to seal and lock the lids. Some you can pull right off rather easily so they obviously don’t seal very well at all.

Americans them selves are partly to blame as well, when buying into stock they should make sure they are not supporting companies that bring in out of country knock off’s

Its up to us to make the change the only way companies will listen and that is by what products one uses !

Just changed out my 3rd or 4th yard light they don’t burn out the pivot point adjustment seams leak I planned on upgrading but she came home with a replacement one today. Communication is not her strong point!

I don’t think Menards even carries a US made yard light. She bought this one “same junk” at Ace she just paid twice as much for it.
