What is an Oberto Trigger. Advantages/disadvantages? When did they come out?
Can anyone post pics of a trap with one installed?
Thanks.

They were made in WI or MI as I recall and were made to install on various traps to make them dogless. They had a square pan and hooked on the inside of the jaw. I no longer have any collector trap pictures but I am sure the fine Gents on the trap collectors forum would help you out.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Thank you Wolfdog. Good pics. They look kind of bulky.
Interesting.

With that small pan set up you don't have many sprung empty traps.

Yes, there is a through bolt on the uprights, that when tightened, clamps in on the pan shank, so tension is adjustable. I'm kind of surprised no one is making these kits now, since they are adjustable to fit most sizes and types of traps, while converting said trap to a dogless trap WITH adjustable pan tension. I still have some new, never installed kits in two sizes, but I think it would be very hard to locate many new kits anymore.....

Thank you Sir! Have seen other posts about the Oberto pan systems just didn't know about adjustments.

There were actually two versions patented. One had a ring link to a smaller jaw catch, and was for smaller animals. It did not have adjustable pan tension and the pan was large compared to size of the trap - think oversized mink pan.
