When I used that caliber I always just shot them with FMJ’s.

It makes sense that if you pre segment a bullet it would expand better

it took him 2-3 additional depth adjustments to get him where he wanted to be

for most people the answer would be just use a better bullet but in this guys case he has cases of this ammo and soft point 7.62x39 got a lot harder to fid and much more expensive so the time and tool are justified in the savings of probably a dollar a round.

he thought his old fmj price was 17 cents a round
new fmj price is about 50 cents a round in bulk

new soft points are around1-2 dollars depending on what you get
best I could find was 84 cents a round for a soft point

it isn't a cheap tool at 575
but if you can save 500-800 a case on ammo I can see where it would pay for it's self if you use a few cases of ammo .

for normal folks not so much

Wolfie that was exactly my point he isn't normal

even I basically gave up on making deer ammo for the 300blk when I can buy good stuff at 1.50 a round I only shoot it from one gun save my primers and time for something I use more than 20 rounds a year of.

Very interesting idea and video. Not 7.62x39, but I remember shooting a single pig with a FMJ. I'd read that the XM193 bullet actually performed well, and I wanted to see for myself. At about 20 yards and to my surprise, the XM193 folded a large boar like a cheap lawn chair with a shot to the high shoulder/base of the neck, and it left a huge exit hole.

High velocity with a 20" barrel and close range. Can't say what it would have done at 100+ yards.

depending on the barrel also conditionally stable that was the idea with 1:12 and 1:14 barrels

xm193 is a tumbler and that is also great shot placement to make any bullet that pernitrates well look good and if you hit bone with a fast fmj it ill still come apart
