What bodygrip are you guys using for road culverts, and what brand. Thanks

I don't do road culverts but I do use them on dry land coon. I use Duke 220's and have had excellent results.

Belisle 220 - they will hold whatever trips them.

I still use sleepy creek’s I’ve had for years don’t think that’s a option any more as I need more I will buy Belisle

160 and 220 dukes or whatever brand , go with belisle if your connecting otters

New......your choices seem to be limited to Belisle, Duke and Bridger.

A team is Belisle anything. The 220 is a hammer as is the 160. Good triggers and safeties on both.

Duke and Bridger are the B team. Duke 220's OK. Duke 160's are lighter wire. Have seen guys use them on coon and such and they work. But same is true of BMI and Victor 160's.

Bridger 160's are hammers, but you have to tune the triggers first. Good luck with that. And safeties are a pain. Have never seen a Bridger 220, but would expect it to be the same.

Well, this is easy. If you are a weekend warrior or short-liner, might as well spring for the best (Belisle). If you plan to put up numbers on a budget, Dukes will fit the bill. At a $100/doz price difference, it's an easy decision. I will guarantee you, I will outtrap you with $500 worth of Dukes VS $500 worth of Belisles. My math says I can set about 42 Dukes or 25 Belisles for that $500...

I would go with 220's as long as they are legal. Less refusals by a long shot!

If you're running them in public roadside culverts where theft will be an issue go with the dukes. They're more disposable. But as far as quality goes there is nothing that comes close to comparing to a Belisle.

We've not had a good enough coon market to justify me trapping them on purpose in a few years. And I really dont enjoy catching or dealing with them at all; to the point that i dropped all off at skinner in carcass. But when they were worth enough to get me setting, body grippers were my only tool. To me culverts, etc draw some undesirable attention at least in this country so for that reason I'd be looking for the cheapest option available particularly if youre running many. It hurts alot less when they disappear. And I've never seen any significant difference in performance on the critters between the various brands that would make me pay a premium if coon were my primary target---doesnt mean some of the steel isnt better built than other just not worth a price difference for me if high volume coon is the game.

220 vs 160 can be interesting dilemma. I assume in culverts you basically mean trails of some type leading to culvert or thru. 220s shine best on more open trails. 160s can be out of place when its too open and you are forced to try and neck things down excessively. BUT 160s can really outshine 220s in tight cover---here that could mean tall and thick grass where the trails are exceptionally narrow. I carried about a 60% batch of 220s and 40% 160s. If I had to have only one it would be the 220 but just realize it has limitations.

Another thing to consider is any other target critters besides coon that you might be trying to catch in bodygrippers. 220 size shines when you are on dry land with otter, etc. 160 is better mink option both in and out of water if you are mixing that into the coon line. But not sure either are even present in your country
