They are more interested in your freedom and constitutional mind set than what you have. The man is the weapon not the item. So you can not get off the list

I did till I had to get rid of everything due to the ILLINOIS GUN BAN. I used one for year for coyotes and foxes. The balance is different than bolt action rifles. It takes some getting used to but after you figure it out you can do real well. I liked the collapsible stock because you could make it shorter for winter time. Mine shot constantly in .3 at 100 yards. Like others mention- you can change things out and no need for a gun smith. Get a good trigger like a Giesle 3 gun trigger. Get something that directs the sound out away from you if you can use it where you are. Get a light barrel and light weight parts so it isn't so heavy to carry while hunting. I would have used it for everything but like I said the Illinois gun ban ruined that

PS. My dad was a machine gunner in the 2 BN 38th Infantry Spear Headers in Korea. He shot a deer one day and gave it to the cook to cook for his squad. At supper time - everybody got soup....

Just passin through

Out West here probably up to two hundred yards. Don’t know how accurate they are over that range or even at two hundred yards.

I know a lot people who that their AR's out to 1200 all the time. Heck ridge runner is out there head shotting turkeys at like 400 with his AR10....no I'm not joking lol.
Anyhow once you find the ammo your gun likes ( in less you reload) 400 and in really isn't that hard with a half dect one. This is me with my lil poverty build at 371. Aid when I say poverty
$110 bread creek barrel
Random5.56 BCG and upper took off another build to mank this one
$30 presma tube hand gaurd
Think the lower was $150 complete
$150 luth MBA 3 fully adjustable stock
And everything else was just crap from other people's parts bins lol.

Most I've talked to who don't think AR's are accurate and who said they've shot them...well wen you can actually dig a little half the time their feeing the guns absolute crap ammo, shooting it's off of a crap position, then gun it's self was not set up to be a accurate type of gun more of a range blaster ....... I Mena really it's like well no duh that thing was accurate tired

Most decent flat top AR's with free float barrels and properly mounted scopes shoot really well. I Mena honestly 1.5" or less is like bare minimum now days... Like I mean seriously bare minimum .
That. $110 bear creek barrel will shoot about any half dect ammo I feed it into a 1 1/4" or less group on average. Just just can't be as sloppy being the gun as you could with a bolt gun. Need to stay on your P's and Q's. But that for tryin to shoot lol butty groups. Kill zone on a yote is what ? 5" ? Well within what most Modern AR's ( even the budget ones) can do.

O and just some advice,if you do get one , do yourself a favor and go ahead and get a cantilever scope mount, makes live much nice on the AR platform compared to normal rings. And you really really don't have to spend a don't on them . Arken has a good. One for like $60 ? Most of the wins I run are like 30 or less and do fine getting bumped around here and there....though if you really feel the need you could go up to like $500 for some really Gucci ones

I don't hunt with an AR. But I'm certainly not opposed to it either.
I would like to have a nice AR built for varmints.

Grandpa trapper I have shot coyotes out to 450 with one of mine. Personally I think they loose to much velocity when shot from a16" barrel to reliably make the bullets come apart. But it kills them. To me they are a 300 yard gun for killing. But I have shot mile out to 600 and it groups very well.

Accuracy well my best shot was on a puo and take pheasant that was missed during a hunt and was walking across the field the next day when I was calling coyote. It was 95 yards walking and I shot it in the head . And that rifle Is a bushmaster so far from top end. Back when I had a 9 power optic on it I could shoot groups inside of dimes with my hand loads at 100yard. But now it has a 4x acog on it and I switched to cheaper bullets but can still hit quarters. Good enough for what I'm going to require from it. Cheap ammo will shoot like cheap ammo. Shoot quality ammo and they are much more capable than most shooters.

I seen videos of how many shots you guys take to get a caribou. I always wondered why we had so many lame caribou by the time the Porky's get us after spending time in Alaska. Them NATO rounds could not stop 120 poud Somallis in Blackhawk Down

White, I am guessing you were cheating from the looks of your boots and would bet that was not a AR-15. Nice picture though. Why would someone ask if someone hunted with a AR15 ? Is it a weapon of war and the public should not have it? It is a semi auto rifle. Nothing more.

I have a very liberal cousin that has been living in California for 15 years or more. She went on a rant about ar 15 not having a use and no one hunts with them. So I sent her a picture of one of my boys at about 7 years old at the time with 2 deer holding the 8.5" suppressed 300 blackout . Told her it was the best gun for my kid at the time, light recoil, adjustable, quiet and good enough to do the job. Asked her if she was really wanting to take that away from my kids,. Then told he she should come out to the farm and shoot some with us and get educated before making a fool of herself not knowing what she is talking about.

For some reason she has not talked to me since. I don't mind at all.

Providence Farm I would not have spoke to be before that. You can choose your friends. Why speak to an enemy, even if they are related? It sound like she figured that out before you did.

Sounds like he asked because he's thinking about getting one for hunting. Just like asking if someone uses a .458 socom for hunting. Real life opinions from actual users.
