Well brand fanaticism more like it. Don't think I'll ever get how butthurt some can be over a brand of something when someone says they don't like or use it

So at the dock getting fuel and I get to chatting with one of the guy on the boat next to use. Get to talking about guns and then optics. Told him how I was waiting for ARKEN to drop a new scope I really liked the looks of and he start talking about how I should buy a leupold, how all his gun wear nothing but leupold, best scope out there yadda yadda. I just shrugged told him I'm not really leupold guy mainly because they don't offer what I want in the price bracket that I want. And there's just way too many other options out there that have been proven to work well for the price and my use case ( ARKEN Arken SWFA Vortex heck some of these Chinese companies like monstrum are dropping some good stuff ) O Lord in heaven you could have thought I asked this guy what color his wife's underwear was with how red in the face he got and proceeded to get a tirade on how leupold is the best and only scope he'd use.
I finally just had to cut him off buy saying me and him where two different people, two different budgets , two different use cases ,ect next thing you know I'm getting called a liberal ( gotta say one of the lamest insults) and some other stuff and yeaaahhh watched a grown man throw a hissy fit because I don't think his brand is the greatest thing since sliced bread crazy

Like I get liking a brand if it's done good by you , recommending it , and possibly defending it if someone is on some major bull crap ( like I this company sucks because I purposely tossed my scope out the of a moving car and they won't replace it ,or man this company sucks because their $50 .22lr scop wo t hold zero on my .300win mag )but man some of these folks need to relax unless their getting paid to be cult member of the brand laugh

I am more like Wolfie. I buy what works in my Price range. People used to ask why I bought Snap on so much in High School. Well if your Boss was a Snap on Dealer and gave you 400.00 a month to spend on his truck you would too!!!

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

Lol reminds me of my uncle. Mans 70 something still running a pretty successful contracting company ,build houses and the like. Well as soon as we got a Harbor Freight in the town a lager majority of his tool went from DeWalt and the like to harbor freight. I asked him why ? He's a professional and does great work why use cheap tools? His answer ?
" well heck Donovan thank a bout it. All tool ar gonna break if you actually use them ,it's nice when they don't but they will so it just makes more sense to go with a company that makes it easy and cheap to replace them ! I'll spend two hours at Lowe's or on the phone trying to get a warranty when my DeWalt goes down , but it's 5min in and out at harbor freight! Times money ! When one of the guys breaks one whatever. Also ,who many crackheads you know wanna steal harbor freight? Can't seem to loose one as fast as a snap on or mekita either !

Must be a southern thing. I could probably tell a 100 guys up here at a gun show my scope was better than theirs and probably every one would just nod there head and walk away laughing.

Also had a few guys think they go get over on me because...well haut say reasons. Like that one guy who though he could sell me a Glock for $900 and a mini Draco for 1500 and tried to argue with me till the light blind hit off and he figured out I knew something crazy

I'm with ya wolfdog. I raced motorcycles most of my life. I was brand loyal as a kid...then I grew out of it (some people never do). I raced other brands of bikes and liked them all. Pros and cons to every one of them.

Then I went and worked at the Ford motor company assembling trucks. We all know brand loyal guys who will drive nothing but a Ford...or Chevy, or whatever. Well anyone who's worked on the assembly line at Ford, or the other companies, will tell you that there are good parts and bad parts that go into every vehicle assembled on any line. Good and poor designs with every model and some cars come down the paint line with a blemish and get all the rustproofing ground right off that panel and repainted with no rustproofing (E cote). The customer never knows...until about 10 years down the road. Again, pros and cons to every manufacturer.

I've found that most people who are brand loyal have never ventured out and tested other brands. The are just stuck in the "If I buy it, it's great" mentality. They are just trying to convince themselves. Good for you for not falling for the bait!

I have a leupold...and a swift and a bushnell scope. I like em all smile

I shoot for a living. In an earlier life I would buy what I could afford. My only requirements back then was did it look clear when I looked through it in the store, and did I get a full view without what looked like a 1/4" thick wall on the outer edges. I still have a few of them on rifles used for mindless plinking.
On the rifles which I use for serious reasons, I use Leopold scopes.
Here is what I like about them which you won't find on less expensive scopes.
1) Excellent view in low light and high glare situations like looking in the direction of a recent sunset.
2) I seldom if ever need to resight the scope, and I can tend to be a bit rough with my equipment.
3) The eye relief is long and there is room for error if you are not at the perfect distance from the eyepiece. I have not seen another scope which has that feature to the extent as a Leupold has.
4) Their lens coatings fight glare and tend not to fog up like other scopes which I have had.
5) There is great value in the confidence of knowing all of this can be expected when you pull out any of many rifles with a Leupold scope on it. I cannot say that about any other rifles which have a hodgepodge of economy minded scopes on them.
I am not "brand queer", but I do know what I require for what I do.

Spend your money on whatever you wish. That's what I do. Could care less what you do, unless I ask, of course.

Take the red pill and buy a Leupold. You'll like it.
Quit arguing with people at the gas pump.

Which all is fair. Brand does what you want for the price you happy with . Your also not throwing a hissy fit when someone don't use them grin
