Most of my time up north (Alaska), I wasn't in lynx country. My last five years, we did have them on the line. Real fun when the cycle was up, although they were pretty naive around traps and snares.

This was a pretty typical scene along the line. They were fun to catch, they were clean (didn't stink), easy to skin and prep., and brought pretty decent money.

A good friend of mine had a lynx take the drag up a small birch tree, get hung up, and fell out of the tree. He had to chop down the tree to retrieve the lynx and the trap.

Here was one that looked asleep in a snare. I had my Labrador lie down next to it.

My trapping pardner got real good at catching them.

Hope you all enjoy this week's selection.

Jack

I sure enjoy it!
I think all of the wild cat species are infinitely interesting. [

That is one obedient canine! LOL

Wonderful pics...I am a bit worried though; what happens to "photo phriday" when you run out of furbearers?

Great shots and subject, once again, Jack. Wish I could contribute, but I’m about ready to board a big Pegasus to fly me north in a few. Glad to catch your weekly fun for a little bit.

I also like to snare lynx-they have the most beautiful fur of all the furbearers in my opinion.
Great pics Gulo.

Probably too dark to tell. The look on her face says she's none too happy. She didn't like it a bit, but she does what I tell her.

The photo phridays I've done in the past have not been all furbearers. I'll do songbirds, upland game, skulls, tent camps, etc.

One of the first lynx I caught, maybe 1981 or so, I sent to auction and got 500 bucks for it. Quite a few years later living in Unalakleet, was selling lynx to taxidermist, advertising on taxidermy.net. Got a furbuyers license and bought lynx to sell. 2008 economy crash ended that.
Learned the hard way to keep trap chains tied off solid and not too long. Like your picture, they had a tendency to climb and then jump back out.

I hear ya, martentrapper. They do seem to climb and then bail off. Real short drag chains sometimes take a while to hang up though.
