Any of you guys deal with this before? I am looking to set a 330 in a culvert with a steel bottom in it. It’s my only option of trap placement and I really want to put one there. Only thing i can think of is I have a 3/4” piece of plate about 12” in diameter I was gonna weld a modified stabilizer to and set on the bottom of the culvert. Am I missing some other option?

KB Stabilizer. They're handy to have around for 110's up to 330's with rocky bottoms.

Been there....it is a struggle at time to remove beaver in these situations. Without knowing ALL the details....IF the beaver has debris in that culvert you might be able to rig a snare inside the culvert amongst the debris. Another possible solution is take a 2 x 10 (12?) mount a body gripper stabilizer on that....but do it in the middle of the board that way you can use rocks/stones mud and debris to stabilize the board. I'm sending you a pm for other tactics.

Rotors with a couple snuggly mounts bolted to it or weld some 3/16 round stock in a “V” formation. Use them often in many situations.

Where do you get these at?

Can’t snare given the situation unfortunately either. This isn’t rocky bottom either. It’s solid steel lol

Lots of trapping supplies have them. F&T for certain.
If using a KB for beaver especially if there current, weld or bolt it to a railroad plate for stabilization and to anchor the chain too.

Is there a pinch point above or below the culvert?

Remember to secure the KB somehow, to the trap or to the bank. They can get kicked quite a ways when the trap goes off.

Word to the wise, I always found that KB's needed to be additionally supported along the top jaw to work well except in ideal spots. In rocky spots I wedge beaver cut sticks as supports between the jaws and the hard rock or culvert sides. The tension holds the trap in place.

On 330s, I will even use two KB stabilizers to give better stability.

But if the culvert is big enough, double door cage traps really shine in those situations also.

^^^Now, envision a peeled beaver stick between the spring on one side and through a corner of the jaws and on up to the top of the culvert wedged in tight. Then you have good stability.

I have not tried this but have thought about trying. Looks like it would work in this instance with a little longer rebar.

A little long getting started but it’s a good idea.

Yes this is where I think my plate idea might work better that the kb thing. I don’t have means to stabilize up top I don’t think.

There is, but open to the public eye, and I know for certain they are going through this particular culvert. This is my best option as far as I can tell. Hence not wanting to snare and have a beaver on a leash for anyone to see/ movement

Can you access the edges of this culvert? If so I have worked with some metal fencing and cut a hole in the fencing and zip tied the 330 springs to the fencing then attached the fencing to the edges of the culvert.

I built a stabilizer on a large steel plate for my 1022. with some wood attached to the steel for a support

Shorten the tabs some and they’re ready for many places underwater and on land with most sizes of bodygrip.

KB stabilizers work well for this
