I found dead.

Was shed hunting and found him about 50 yards of the highway.
This is the kind of young buck that I sure hope make it to an older age class.
Bummer for sure.

That’d be a trophy in these parts almost any year. Probably got nipped by a car and drug himself in the woods. Bummer. Happy trapping! ScottW

Nice deer head, have brought home many that i have found over the years or people just chucked the problem being that my area CO stopped to visit and saw them asked why alot of them had no tag. Said they were found the look on his face was maybe poached of which I told him NO and how I got them called once to get a rack off a long time dead deer he told me I had to get a tag from him and take the whole deer Just did not make sense to try to remove a rotting critter and I left it there.

How do you know it was a young buck? Is there a way to age a skull?

Small skull, nickel sized bases.

Wardens have WAY better things to do then traveling to and giving a " permit" for a found deadhead.

Snowy, ain't supposed to go 56mph in a 55mph zone either wink

^ just commented on the law here just like one guy from MN did. I could care less what you or anyone else does.

Seen whitetail today still wearing both sides. I picked up a dozen or so horns that I have found while working around the place in last week or so.

It's not illegal for us to salvage deer horns and skulls
