We are auditioning 2, 3/4 Kangal, 1/4 Great Pyrenees female pups for house dogs. We lost Eli, who was 17, back in December. The puppies' uncle, Sherman, will be 14 in June. Sherman is still in good shape, but it is starting to sleep most of the time and is not as alert as when he was younger. Sherman is 6' 3" on his back legs. When you knock on our side door, Sherman stands up, barks and pulls down the polar fleece on velcro, covering the window. It's like having a werewolf looking at you through the window in the door. Sherman weighs more than most adult men. Nobody stays on our porch and most people go back to their cars. Sherman lays against the door when I'm outside.

The puppies' father, Thor, is in our front barn during the day. He's 6' 6" on his back legs. He does a good job protecting the farm. I think the puppies will be well over 150 pounds when full grown.

We sell a lot from here, so it's nice to have large protective dogs in the house.

Guess it depends. I lost my hound almost a year ago, to the most horrific circumstances imaginable.

Stray showed up in October on death's door, I nursed it back to health, and it's living here, but I feel resentment towards it more than anything else.

I'm glad I helped it survive but that's as far as it goes. Wish it would go back to wherever it came from.

I think you should get a new dog every 6 to 8 years, that way the older dogs can help train the young ones. It also helps to soften the inevitable loss of the old dogs.

Obie looks more like a Yoda to me but cute none the less

Our last 3 dogs have been Shih Tzus. We have one left. He got infection in his left eye and ended up losing the eye. He still does fine with one eye. They are a special breed and easy to house train.

I would never want my wife to see your photo. She'd be out shopping for second one. What a cutie you got there!
