I switched to State Farm in Arkansas as Progresseve doesn't have agents in ARK. Saved a ton of money.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

In my area, State Farm has been the worst for covering claims. It started 3 years ago when they got a new CEO. NUMEROUS customers this past summer experience damaging hail; they sent independent sub field adjusters, slow-walked claims, so long my elderly customers would just settle without a fight, and leave thousands on the table. Allstate has gotten bad as well. They both spend millions on TV Commercials and skimp on small claims. Erie is okay but I have to battle with them a lesser amount. Too many adjusters are clueless to actual building components.
Travelers, USAA, NJM, Goodville, Liberty, Colonial Penn, have provided good service. With lots of catastrophic claim events, they pass costs to ALL customers.

My insurance guy called a couple months ago and said rates are increasing, but if we move some things around we could basically cover the cost. I appreciated that.
Just like everything else, insurance rates are going to go up. Shopping around may help for awhile, but we're all gonna pay more for insurance. They do the same here, I always ask why is my insurance going up cause I haven’t used it in over a decade. They always referred to corporate BS. Actually I’m saving over 1300 bucks this year so my insurance went down.

My State Farm insurance has went up the last 3 times in a row that I have gotten a bill from them. The first time was 20 the last two times it has went up 60 bucks each time. So good luck with State Farm. And that is with no claims the policy.

Just send them the declaration paper from your current insurance and get a quote.

I can see why insurance rates for cars go up when there is 80,000 dollar plus cars on the road that if you total one and it’s your fault the insurance company has to replace that expensive vehicle but in my simple mind my insurance shouldn’t go up unless I’m the one who hit that car lol. You better check your coverage If you have minimum coverage (Texas is $30K injury/ $60K per accident/ $25K property) guess who is on the hook for the balance of that $80K truck you hit? Guess who is responsible for medical bills above your stated coverage? It is YOU personally that will be responsible Uninsured/under insured is a good thing to consider as well. Pays for your stuff when another is at fault and does not have coverage to make it right. Then instead of you going after the other driver on your dime the insurance provider takes them to court. Wife works for our agent. All insurance is going up including mine. And the companies are just like auto manufacturers, some have great experiences with a certain provider and others have negative Now, even your credit score can affect your insurance cost along with driving record and type of vehicle A good agent makes a difference

Don't pick your insurance company based on rates. We lost everything in a house fire in 2022 and still have not received payment for the amount due under the policy. We have been in litigation for 8 months. Through this whole experience we have learned that insurance companies as a whole are NOT your friend. We have come across several individuals that have been jerked around by their carriers when it comes to paying claims. Like any corporation their primary interest is to make money, maintain profit margins and will do anything possible to maintain those profit margins. A large portion of the premiums we all pay are being used to retain high priced attorneys to represent them in cases where they don't want to payout what the policy defines. They also use our premiums to hire lobbyist to fight against laws being passed that would help protect consumers. No one does it but the most effective way to protect yourself is to know your policy and check for loopholes. When it comes to homeowners be sure you have FULL REPLACEMENT coverage, or you are in for a long battle. Also keep a detailed inventory list of everything in your home right down to the smallest item or there is a good chance you will not get paid the full amount of your content's coverage. You also cannot expect to receive full payment because everything gets depreciated by 25-35% unless it is brand new. Insurance companies DO NOT MAKE A PROFIT paying out claims. One company in particular to stay away from is this one

Careful with State Farm. Had the Perryville, MO tornado go through my field, destroyed 3 homes within 1/2 mile of us, and took out my neighbor's barn on the other side of my field. State Farm said there was no damage to my house because my "carport was still standing." Never mind the fact it was anchored with 3 foot long roof bolts and had 2 cords of firewood stacked on the sides. It cracked every wall in my home, not a single window or door would shut right if at all. Split the ceiling right down the center of the house and racked the roof about 3" (I could see my truck from the attic). My structural engineer said the tornado tried to take the roof off my house. I had the home inspections from 3 months prior when I bought the place and pictures to prove none of that damage was there. State Farm is a big company with lots of money and lawyers. They will drag it out in court until it's too expensive for you to go on.
Recently, had a hailstorm with golf ball sized hail. Did a number on my roof. State farm claimed there was "no damage to the roof, all the damage was from blistering." I literally had video of the 2" hail stones bouncing off the roof. Talked to the contractors, they all said SF was notorious for the "blistering" remark or only will approve 1 roof slope. The contractors also said that SF is trying to recover money lost in recent years from the storms in the South East, so that's why they stopped covering whole roofs and deny more claims.
We switched companies.

Auto insurance penalizes a person for being loyal as it never goes down even though your vehicles value decreases quickly the first couple years. I dropped the truck that was destroyed in the fire and my rate increased by losing the multi vehicle discount it would have been cheaper to keep insuring it.
It just had liability on it but that seemed ridiculous that removing a vehicle would cost you more.
I was impressed with Farmers Mutual out of NE they covered many things that surprised me, even 24 skunks I put up to get tanned $12.50 ea. They paid up on a refrigerator, freezer, table saw, pressure washer because they would possibly go out later from the gas the fire creates the refrigerator did go belly up in a few months like they thought.

I see some guys who have figured out that a big claim getting denied or paid is lot more important than the cost of the premium. There are a few companies I would never work for b/c I do not like the way they treat people who file a claim so beware.
