I’ve never trapped fox so not knowing anything about what sets and baits or lures to use I’ve got 7 gray fox that come out into my clearing every evening before dark that’s how I know there is 7 I’m wanting to catch these before they raid my chicken Koop I’ve got woods that border my clearing on all sides but a lot of times they never come in the same way or use same trail any ideas from more experienced trappers on where to set and what to use any info will be appreciated

Use dirt holes and flat sets. Keep pan tension light and set traps tight to the holes. You will get them using any k-9 set youve read about. If you know where they are traveling, set on sign.

I've had more problems over the years with raccoons stealing chickens than anything else. I have plenty of grays in the area & never had a issue with those taking chickens. Not saying it couldn't happen, but in my experience at least, out local grays are not particularly interested in chickens. If that's you're primary reason to trap them I wouldn't worry too much about it. Now if you just want to trap them for other reasons and that's the excuse you need for your wife or whoever, as was said, dirtholes and flat sets are your friend. Grays are fun to catch.

To protect your coops set up that clearing or field. Fox sets will take the coons also

Or late evening, whether or not night hunting is legal. . Quite easy, inexpensive, and a lot more fun to call them in with a hand call.

Trapping season in AR is almost at end anyway. You say it’s “your clearing”. Get a predator control permit(PCP) and shoot em.

Just me but I'm not asking permission to protect my live stock on my land. I'm sure many feel the same way and will stay silent and the boot lickers will be outraged and let it be known. Wild and domestic predator get treated the same year round. Technically they are required to be reported within 24 or 48 hrs of removal.

I have never targeted grays we don't have many I have only seen 3 in my life and if I did catch one it will be released unless it's causing problems. So if I were to guess a dirt hole set with good bait and/or a lure for gray fox. I don't know how they would respond to a sent post or flat set having zero experience with them.

You can get a free predator control permit and trap private land all year if you want. Have to get a new free permit and the end of June.

I’ve got the permit but was just concerned about havin that many in one place as we all know they gonna get the closest free meal that they can I’d really like to let them live till season comes back in and trap them where I can put the fur up and sell it to help pay my other trappin habits lol I love water trappin and have never gotten into land trappin but with all the knowledge of people on trapperman I bet I will be doin it in no time and I bet I’ll enjoy land trappin as much as water trappin
