a picture would be good
also several types of JB weld form putty with metal imbedded as well as several other 2 part epoxy options
bonding something into it to strength the joint may help also
clean of any dirt , oil or wax for surface prep.
degreased and a little sanding isn't a bad idea

I've "fixed" quite a few things through the years with JB weld
AKA Clean the surface free of foreign materials and then rough it up with a coarse grit sandpaper. Without pictures that's all I can help with.

Jb weld is crap! It didn't work on my22 rifle I let it dry for 2 days when I shot the rifle it came off. what was the application , bedding or holding a stock it is actually stronger psi than most bedding epoxy but prep and application is everything and again about 12 kinds of JB weld

About 10 years ago I busted a fifty cent piece sized hole in the crank case of a 70hp Yamaha outboard. I carefully degreased (brake cleaner) and sanded, then degreased again, both around the hole, and the piece that busted out. JB welded it back in place. It's still running fine. Before and after pictures of the repair. The red plastic pieces were glued on first so that I could use them as handles when setting the broken piece in place. I cut them off after everything had cured. BTW, the piece broke out due to an internal failure of the oil injection pump worm gear. After that I removed the auto oil injection mechanisms from all my two-stroke outboards, and now pre-mix.

Hitachi slide compound miter saw currently held together with superglue Considering covering crack with JB and then partially filling void with JB I would cut a peice of threaded rod that will lay in that space , drill a 3-4 little holes that allow finishing nails to go in and lay across that rod , then with your grid of metal and it all degreased fill that space with epoxy and let it set for a few days. then trim the nails flush with a grinder on the outside

Sure seems possible. I would laminate along the side of the crack with something like a piece of aluminum trimmed to fit. Bonding the scrap over the crack to reinforce.

I had a leak on the filler hose of my old 83 Dodge 1Ton pickup. I didn't want to weld or solder it being it is attached to the gas tank. I used JB Weld on it and it has held up for the past 10 years or so with no leaks. I think the key is to sand the surface so it's clean and dry first.

Similar to what GCP said. Clean and degrease it, do my best to sand in there, (I'd spray with brake kleen, and wrap some sand paper on a screw driver or something if I didn't have a drimmel tool to fit in there.),,, then put some JB in that void to hold a short piece of flat steel that fits the void where the red is. Let it set up, drill for pins, then fill the whole void. If that doesn't hold then I'd order the part like was suggested.

One down side to usint JB for a mend. If plan to weld it later it will be hard to clean it off good enough to weld.
