Two weeks ago tomorrow I dislocated my right shoulder. I walked out my back door and gave the door a big swing so it would slam close. That caused me to lose my balance. I fell sideways about 10 feet and crashed into the side of my garage, crashed hard. I have a concrete pad out back and i collapsed on the concrete. I could not get up. I did not have my phone and I knew I had to get in the house that was about 10 feet away. My right arm would not move. I could not get on my hands and knees with only one arm. I started dragging my self across the concrete to the door. I would move a few inches and then pick up my arm and move it ahead. Finally made it to the door and somehow managed to reach up and turn the knob. I still don’t know how i managed to do that. It was cold out and it was getting hard to move. Got the door open and pulled myself inside. There is a kitchen cabinet by the door with a heat vent in the toe kick. The furnace was on blowing warn air. I just laid there in the warm air, OH my did that feel good. Managed to drag myself into the living room where my phone was. I called my daughter and she called an ambulance and she came right over. She got here then the ambulance.
They hauled me to the hospital and I dislocated my shoulder and broken a bone in my shoulder. Had to spend the night in the hospital.
Everything is now done left handed and I am right handed. The doctors say another 4 to 6 weeks before it heals.

That is the definition of a bad day right there! Glad you are on the mend.

It sounds like it could have been much worse. We old guys need to be careful. Heal up quickly and without complications. Good luck.

I live by myself so I had no one to help me.
Maybe the hardest thing about this is trying to wipe my butt with my left hand. It’s messy. At least I have some baby wipes to get the final buff done.

My daughter says that I MUST carry my phone with me at all times. She is also making me get a smart watch.

I feel your pain, last summer I had an injury similar to what you had. I guess I was lucky as it was my left shoulder. Same thing, dislocated and a broken bone. That was about the most pain I ever experienced in my 78 years. Once they reset my shoulder the pain was bearable. The healing process takes time. I hope you heal quickly, you will probably feel better each day.

I rarely swear. I believe swearing shows a lack of command of verbal skills. My son-in-law said when they got me in the ambulance I was swearing a blue streak complaining about the pain.

Hope you heal fast without lots of pain. I've dislocated my shoulder twice. Once in my forties and again when I was 52. That gets better relatively quick. If you broke a bone that takes a month or two to heal but the pain should only last about 3 weeks.
I understand carrying a phone, but why a smart watch? What would that do that a phone doesn't?

Maybe you can install a bidet!!! Why sweep when you can mop!!?

I guess she figures that the watch will have a good chance of being on my wrist, where I could lay my phone down on the counter and forget it.

Glad you are doing better. I've found that as I get older I don't bounce as well as I used to. Had to cut back on my Ninja moves.
