I am looking to replace the stock on my brother's rifle. I have been researching Boyd's. Anyone have any tips or suggestions? Anyone use these before? Any help would be appreciated!

I have a couple on Remington 700’s. Only complaint is the laminate one being a bit heavy for my liking. The simple walnut one I have is pleasing. Fitment was perfect on both and they were built exactly to the specifications that I chose when ordering each of them.

I have two of the pro varmint stocks, really like them. They are heavy but that’s what I like

Boyd's stocks seem to have good fitment as mentioned above.

They're also reasonably priced.

But also as mentioned, they are on the heavy side.

I've owned a few through the years and never had an issue with any of them, and wouldn't rule out buying one.

Thank you guys for your feedback! It's going on a Rem 700. It's good to know the laminate is heavy. I'll stick to the walnut.

McMillan stocks is worth checking out, if you are ok with carbon, composite. But not inexpensive.

What Remington are you looking for? I have 1,000+ factory wood stocks for various things, many obsolete.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I have a Rem 700 LA Boyds for my 270 ADL. Very happy with it.

Stocky's has quite a few different types and styles. My son put one on his custom 300 WM. Aluminum bedding block, bedding pillars, and adjustable cheek piece. Only modification he needed was the barrel channel needed to be opened up a little to free float the Proof carbon fiber barrel and the extra heavy recoil lug.

The rifle has no will of its own it may be used for evil but there are more good men than evil men and evil will be corrected by good men with rifles.

The pro Varmint is a great little stock. Lots of wood on them so if your decent at wood working you can really get them just the way you want with some sanding. Drop you an extra $20 and get one of those cheap kydex cheek riser kits from Amazon while your at it.

That being said what exactly are you doing with the gun ,hunting/ shooting style? Certain stock styles can be the polar opposite to what you need or want.

If you want more of a modern deal you could also look into a chassis deal and theirs a metric tone of them out there for rem 700's .

Also the used market for rem 700 stocks is massive too. 160user could definitely have a few in his stock pile along with other members,eBay ect smile
