A twist on the other classic car thread , what cars have you driven or owned that you hated ?

A point was made on the Ford Maverick that even though the V-8 powered 'grabber' was kinda a cool car , the stock Mavericks were kinda lame. The same with the Ford Pinto too.

Not looking for Chevy vs Ford Vs Dodge bashing , but just certain cars that were crummy even when brand new.

As examples...

I drove a '82? Chevrolet Chevette diesel with an automatic. It felt like it had 38 horsepower on a good day. What a slug.
I've driven a couple Chevrolet Camaros with a four cylinder engine. They only made them for a couple years , no one wanted them. Probably very rare and possibly a collectable now.
I drove a early 80's Toyota pickup , diesel with a 5sp. Found out the top speed was 86mph after holding the pedal to the floor for over 5 minutes. Ya only got 86mph when going downhill on the highway.
I've driven a deux chevaux ( Citroën 2CV ) very quirky car to say the least. And butt ugly....lol

Worst car I've owned , a '88? Hyundai Elantra. Didn't want the car but took it in with some cash to horse trade for something I was selling. Sold the car months later. Hyundai made some real crappy cars back then.

What do you hate ?

'78 F-250. Ordered brand new, about a week after the warranty expired, the truck started expiring too. Will never buy another Ford. Bow ties forever!

85 ford Ranger, V6, 5 pd manual, first year with a "computer controlled carburetor".
POS that they never ended up getting to work right.
Nice little 2wd truck otherwise.

I averaged 6 vehicles/year for the first 5 years I had a drivers license. I had all manner of cars and trucks, drove like an idiot and lucky to have survived it but I learned Chevys blew up easy, and I should of kept a couple of the ones I went through, but the 78' El Camino wasn't one of them. POS!

I had a love/hate relationship with my '64 VW bug. I was 17 when I bought it and loved it for it's cuteness but that was all it had going for it, lol.

It had a 6v electrical system so pretty much any electrical parts you needed had to be ordered. And you ALWAYS needed electrical parts. It would smoke a pair a points a week it seemed, so I learned how to set and change them on the fly. I tried converting it to electronic ignition but it wouldn't run right so ended up going back to just changing out points. It would also commonly blow out light bulbs.

It's top speed was 60 on a good day.

And forget about heat in the winter time. I drove with a full size quilt to burrow under and defrosted my windshield with a battery powered heater that plugged into the lighter plug that I balanced on the dash, lol.

My brothers father-in-law had a Chevette diesel, he said that thing got wicked fuel mileage.

Bought a used Isuzu pick-up 4x4 in 1990. Had a 5 speed stick on floor. Great little duck hunting truck and trapping truck. After the second head replacement I sent it on its way.

If I remember correctly , you are right. I think it got around 50mpg highway. The only other car at the time that could do that was the VW Rabbit diesel. But the Rabbit diesel had some acceleration while the Chevette had almost none.....lol

My buddy had a Ford car can't remember the model.diesel with a 5 speed. We took it out to Kansas city back around 1990 to a chiefs raiders football game.he claimed it got 53 mpg I thought yea right.we drove it out there and filled up and it actually got right at 53mpg.no power what so ever you needed 5 miles to pass somebody and a good tail wind.but I loved the mileage.

Had a beautiful '68 Chevy pickup , three speed. But it had the 292 straight six engine. Terrible, terrible engine . And the engine only had 60,000 miles, never ran right.

Wife (then girlfriend) had an 83 Honda Civic automatic. Most gutless thing I have ever driven. We went to college by Branson. Would hit the bottom of the hill/mountain doing 90 with the motor really screaming. Top of the next hill you would be pleased if you were doing 45.

I've driven a bunch , nice car.

Buuuuuttt.......lots of rust issues with them. I welded new floors into two of them. That's why you see so few survivors , rust.
Too bad the bodies didn't last , fun ride.

78 Pontiac Lemans, with the 231 v6. Never ran right to be able to pass emissions. Could get it to run good, but wouldn't pass inspection.
