Took The Boys dog Turbo out for his first solo hunt today. He has the drive, just needs more experience and I think he will be a productive squirrel dog. Time will tell.

Turbo hit a fresh trail and followed it up. Looked back like I was supposed to follow him lol

Didn't find any active squirrels in the hour we had, but it's nice to watch him work without the other dogs. I've got high hopes for this one.

Cool.
Looks like he's got the drive.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

Do y’all have to use dogs to find squirrels, or is it just to watch the dogs work?

Yes he is the offspring of our other two feists. Best dogs I've ever had. So much fun and well behaved, but weird personalities lol

I don't need them to find squirrels but it sure is fun to be able to go for a walk and talk with buddies and let the dogs hunt. I sit quietly and alone enough while hunting other things.

Garmin Alpha 100. TT25 collar. They discontinued the mini so had to get this collar .for it to fit our dogs you need the zero flex..the flex band it comes with is too big it covers up too many holes for adjustment the way it comes. Had to get a short antenna too as it was way too long

Idk how far up the tree your dog will go…but I don’t like a tree climber. I’ve had coon dogs 30 foot off the ground up in the tree….they know how to go up but can’t get back down. That’s bad news when you get there and see two sets of eyes and one of them is your dog!

I'd discourage that tree climbing if you can. Husband's cur is a climber and she fell out and busted her hip a couple years ago.

2 1/2 year old mountain feist. Usually don't take her out until after deer season. I just don't want to deal with chiggers/seed ticks or catching a charge for another hunter hurting my dog. I also was able to get one of the last TT15 mini's luckily. My brothers run them on his beagles

Yeahusally not a problem with climbing unless they are up a broken tree like that. Didn't correct it yesterday due to the fact it was the first hunt solo and the only fresh sign we saw. If it continues he will be corrected but for now just want the pup to hunt. He is deer broke but that was with the "pack" and wasn't worried about stunting his capacity for squirrels.

Thanks Trapper Bill and RGW I am looking at new collars for all three dogs I run Pathfinder Minis but they don't make them any more and the Pathfinder 2s aren't compatible with the original. Also not a huge fan of running off the phone but the price was right when I got them so thats what I run. Thanks for the info.

Oh and Moosie, the oldest (Timber) will sit in the blind and whimper with anticipation before the geese hit the horizon, he won't retrieve but it's pretty cool to be able to call where the geese are coming from before they come into view. Made more than one guy wonder how I knew to cover up lol.
