I have a 2019 Silverado with the 5.3. When accelerating I can feel a slight studering in the tranny. Anyone experience this problem? Dealer had it for 2 days and says there’s nothing wrong with it. Went back the next day and found out they didn’t even drive it. Sure don’t want to be in the middle of Egypt and have it blow. Any info would be welcome.
Thanks

How does the fluid look? Is it dark and or burnt smell?

I had the same thing plus it would do it on the downshift coming to a stop sign. Fluid was dark and smelled burnt. Ended up having the trans rebuilt.

Mine has been doing it for a couple months. Not throwing a code do they can’t figure it out. 3 mechanics say torque converter. It’s an expensive guess. Gonna drive it til it blows up. 120k on it.

" shifty " and sometimes " shuttering " was my 2016 siverado 1500

My tranny went out at 140k and I've heard plenty of stories of others that went much sooner than that

I believe it's the same Transmission in 1500 truck, suburban , and Tahoe. 14 -19

I've always had great luck with gm products but this particular Transmission is junk IMO.

I spent close to 7 grand to rebuild it but unloaded it at 162k for fear it wasn't gonna last much longer

The dammmm gm dealer wanted 8-9 grand to rebuild their junk AZ tranny .....what a joke

I now have a silverado 3500hd WT gasser with the 10 spd Alison to get away from that junk 1/2 ton 6 spd

Yep those transmission's are JUNK! We bought 14 at one time, only one of them is still on the road but only cause it has 90 k on it, around 101 or so they go out, just after the warranty expires. No idea how GM will stay in business as crappy as the vehicles they are making now are. Guess long as the union workers get a 'living wage' that's all that matters.

I have had 10 different chevy company trucks. All have been pretty good, except the 2019 that shucked the tranny .

I have a 2018, I had the same shudder, dealer said same when I took it in just prior to warranty expiration. Had to replace tranny shortly thereafter. I took it to a local tranny shop for $2000 less than dealer wanted for replacement. Total was $4400. Tranny shop said he was surprised mine lasted 140K.

My 2015 shuddered to the AAMCO for a $4500 rebuild. But I pulled a camper with it alot so I can't complain.

Yep my 16 tyranny went out at 140k, 3400 rebuild. There was talk of a class action suit against chevy for the shoddy Trans but haven't heard or seen any more on it

I think 2019 may have been the first year for the 8 speed transmission in trucks.

I know more than just a few people that had nothing but problems with it

It always started with shutters and studders.

The 14 i mentioned were 2020's. Not just the pick up's though, co worker got his wife a new chevy car, tranny out in it at 48,000 miles. Sensor's, whole vehicles are junk. After the bail out i swore off union made vehicle's forever, this just makes it ALOT easier to walk away from GM products.

I'm doing a trans on a 2018 at work right now, with a 2016 sitting in the next bay waiting it's turn for a transmission. They don't call it the 4Lslippy for nothing.

WOW!! That’s not good news. This truck has only got 68,000 on it. Yesterday afternoon I shifted into Auto from 2 wheel drive and at about 20 mph it started bucking like a bronco. Well, thanks for your time and information guys.

The 8 and 10 speed GM transmissions have a lot of problems and are prone to early failure. The GM 6 speed transmissions are only slightly better. I have a 21 Sierra with a 6 speed and about 40k miles so far no issues but I dont tow with it so that probably helps.

Are you seeing more gm 6l80 failures or more of the 8 and 10 speeds fail. I havent had to swap out any of them at work yet.

I have a 2018 with 133,000 miles with no problems. When I bought it I debated on it or a Ford. Got a better deal on the Silverado, so I went with it. Maybe should have gone the Ford from what I'm hearing.
