Maybe from before Newhouse bought out Victor, WissMiss might know.

Made by Oneida Community in early 1900s.

Going to go out on a limb and say between 1907 and 1925. When V was cut in the pan and ATCo took over production of Victor traps. I might be a few years off.

Came with several different pan stampings. Some say “shoulder catch” due to the high arc of the jaws.

Moderately common. Value, in great condition, maybe $15.00 or so.

OK, this may seem like a dumb question but here goes. What is the small, metal wedge looking piece on the ring at the end of the chain?

ergo, bibamus.

Here is a link to a “copy” of a magazine bad from 1919. You could send OC 25 cents and get a sample trap.

It is wedge used to secure the trap to a tree trunk or other wooden object. Common on many small size traps, especially Victor.
