RIP Asa, another legend is gone but the legacy will live on. I remember a few decades ago on another forum, ASA posted a lot and there were some long and detailed threads on trapping, especially canines and human scent. Asa was a a proponent of very clean trapping. He also shared a lot regarding trapping in deep snow which was a major factor in his trap lines.

The rifle has no will of its own it may be used for evil but there are more good men than evil men and evil will be corrected by good men with rifles.

RIP Asa, had coffee and meal with Asa and Maria. Maria was a accomplished photographer of wildlife. Asa helped her. Herb and Asa were salt of the earth.

I had that same opportunity but only one time for me. Like many awesome trappers and people, simply as down to the earth and genuine as one can be. And soooo willing to share knowledge in the open forum and via PM back in the day. RIP and god bless him. Happy trapping! ScottW

The man was trapping royalty. He lived about an hour away from me, but I only talked to him one time. Asa had a unique presence, soft spoken and humble. I primarily use his lures to this day. After all, they were formulated and tested on our local furbearers.
