How can I get the most/strongest smell out of castor? Finely chopped mixed with vodka or glycerol?

I use 100 proof Vodka.

I like to use glycerin and 100 proof vodka mixed 50/50. The vodka will give the odor lift and the glycerin slows the rate of evaporation. A touch of Valerian Extract or Tonka Bean Extract will amp up your castor.

I do similar to Papabear. Either 50:50 or 25 percent vodka 75 glycerine.

I wish the good tonka bean was still available…

Papabear, are you use the same amount of valerian as you would tonka?

Good, Tonka Bean tincture can be purchased from Bob Jameson!!! The tinctures he makes in house are excellent imho.

I use valerian, but in powder form. I think you get a better presentation if it's able to distribute from a powder form. Obviously when using the powder it'll take more time to be introduced to the rest of the material, and it will take far less of the mother product.

Mr Coon Duke, Todd as a general rule I use way less Valarian extract than Tonka Bean extract in my concoctions. Both castor and valerian contain phenols in their chemical make-up. I use the Valerian extract to subtly amplify the castors pheromonal components of the phenols..........A true Tonka Bean extract is more of a castor enhancer than amplifier with its sweet neutral tone odor reminiscent of vanilla, toasted almonds, cinnamon, and cloves. Ramps up castor like chocolate sauce on a hot fudge sundae.

Mr Norway Marten, If you are building a castor-based lure for marten try adding a touch of asafoetida. I'm finding that the fisher and marten here seem very attracted to it.

I extract the castor oil into alcohol first, then at a certain time point I add glycerine.
