Anyone ever wore anything like brush chaps over their waders? I have neoprene waders and it gets old having to patch tears almost every trip along thick creek banks.. My size waders are very hard to find and I have to take pretty good care of them because I cant just order a pair anywhere.. thanks

Might see if you can get the outer layer of Dan's chest waders

Neoprene is worthless for trapping, IMO.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

This is my problem. Size 16 Tall. I don’t have a choice and Dans does not make anything big enough to fit me so I got to make work what I can find to fit [Linked Image]

KYBOY, I feel your pain. Being a big man myself it's impossible to find sizes that fit me. You have to settle for what ever you can.
What do you patch your neoprene with?

I’ve used Goop marine sealant and I know aquaseal is great too. Honestly I have not had trouble fixing any holes, they patch pretty easy. Just trying to slow down the process a bit… I thought about trying to find a plain ol’ pair of rubber waders like the lacross I use to wear. They were not comfortable or warm but they were tough..LOL

I used to order coon hunting boots from sunset kennels and they would sew chaps onto boggs boots for each order. I don't know if you can find them anymore that was awhile ago but I bet if you find a dealer they will have an idea. You may not want those though b/c they are made more for crossing water that wading constantly but they are chaps and boots.

I wonder how a big pair of duck hunting chest waders would work with a big pair of dans rabbit hunting bibs over top of them would work out but it'd have to be COLD out.

The bibs are kinda what gave me the idea. I remember a duck hunter telling me that he use to wear a pair of cheap canvas bibs over his waders to keep briars and brush off his waders... I dont have a set of bibs that will fit over my waders.. Mine are heavy winter carhartt..

I think dans has an option where you send them your boots and they make the wader part

but you could definitely try just putting the dans briar proof uninsulated chaps over your waders they wouldn't hold a lot of water or I should say they don't for me when I am hunting in the rain less than my pants any way

Anything that absorbs water is going to get real heavy when it gets wet. You probably want to look toward nylons, maybe laminating nylon to your waders (similar in concept to tri-laminate dry suits for diving).

Have you looked into Mule Brand?
I have been to Dans in Sugar Creek Ohio, nice place, I would not be surprised if you called and gave your measurements the would custom make.
