Was loading the outside burner when it was firing and my 13 year old threw a possum but it went in the back not in the middle where the heat was so I was working on getting it moved but the tool keep sliding off and wood was in the way. Flames came out the door and my beard eye, lashes, and some hair got to hot.
I couldn't just trim5" off and still have a nice 8" or so length this time. So it is now down to about half an inch. Honestly I was tired of it being that long anyway. Pulling up a gun it would get pulled, when my wife rolled over in bed it would get pulled heck last season my 11 year old was going up the same tree in his summit on the other side and the band grabbed my beard and stuck me to the tree untill he picked up the top again. He was laughing pretty hard on that one and even harder when I pointed out my hair that was embedded in the bark. I was ready for it to be gone . It is much colder now though.
I may end up cutting off my long hair since a good bit on top also got shortened that was hanging out from under my hat. But it has gotten thinner than it was when I started growing it out several years ago and I don't think I will like how it looks if I do. But like the long beard in tired of messing with the long hair.
Edit. Another down side besides being colder is my face is itchy also. I thought about shaving it slick off but thought that may be to big a change all at once.

I can see what you like about out door burner. Last time it was lighting my bee smoker. Wouldn't have been an issue if my boy used his head and thew the opossum into the back of the burner behind a log so I could not pull it back to the center and get it gone quickly. So I was messing around with it not paying attention.

That has to be a strange feeling. Knowing something is burning but not feeling anything? Suddenly smelling singed hair and wondering what is going on. Like something in a Yosemite Sam cartoon It's near instant it curls and is done. Never noticed any smoke just the small of burnt hair. My wife seems to like not having as much hair in her face but said it's a little prickly so short yet when I asked if I should just shave it off completely she hesitated and said it won't be pokey long. So I took that as a no. Will t take over 3 years to grow it out. As long as it was. I don't see that happening again for a very long time if ever. I do look young and more presentable and civilized even with all the gray.

Were you cooking the possum? Did it have some terrible disease that required burning the carcass? Beard will grow back I start growing mine about August and usually clean it off by the week after New Years. Just shortened it this year, probably get rid of it when it warms up

I watch the temp on my boiler if it’s at the peek temp setting I crack the door and stand back incase it backdrafts that poof and gas flame sure gets your attention. Since I resealed it that is less of a problem now but I still respect the possibility because you never know when it might poof on ya.

Just shortened it this year, probably get rid of it when it warms up Not eating it and no disease just being lazy. That one was in a dog proof 60 yards from the house. The boiler was a lot closer than a 1/4 mile back to the dead pit. It makes them vanish 100% and faster than the dead pit

I can see what you like about out door burner. That burner saves him a fortune on barber costs.

Let me get this straight... your son didn't use his head and threw the opossum in the wrong place in the burner. But...you were the one messing around with it not paying attention. So...it's your sons fault that you got singed because you weren't paying attention? Come on man!
