I found some 1.5 SC modified coils in my Shop, they are really stout traps.

I'm wonderingwhen they were made. I've had them 15- to 20 yrs

The #11 springs do get weak, though. Nobody has ever duplicated Blake and lambs springs.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

I went to the FTA Trappers College in the fall of 1995 and I believe Pete was making them then, I know he was in 1998 because my wife and I got a dozen #11s as a wedding present.

I used sleepy creek #11s in early 1990s.
Bought several dozen and they were awesome with round pans and adjustable.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Ive got the older round pan traps. Still strong as can be, Ive caught almost everything in them over the years... Nothing that ever got its paw in one has pulled out. Including some pretty big K9's

just to add they made one of the coolest bear traps ever. I read an article in FFG where a guy used one back when they were legal to catch a big black bear

I still have 1 dz 1.5 coils new in box and dz #3 offset coils in box. Like 2.5 dz 1.3 and #3 I use and found 8 more new 1.5 coils. Things you find when u clean out the 30 ×40 shed and look in the crawl space. I still have 5 milk crates to go through and a tote all full of coils and double longs.

I have some I bought in 14 and some more I were told were made in the 90s
All have the oblong pan, but IDK if they put round pans on the bigger DLS.

I can tell you that all have the same strengths and weaknesses in my mind. The springs are super strong, and I love the OS jaw shape. Works good for everything except coons as there is entirely too much room under the jaws..

All of mine needed base plating and at least a strong bend upwards at the end of the jaws if not a good bubble weld. By doing that, and laminating the jaws, they basically become a black hole for a paw belonging to any critter between 20 and 160#. I have never used their coil springs or smaller DLS traps.

Here is some eye candy for western style cat trappers.
