ST back about a year and a half ago when traping Alabama and it was real rainy that summer. Was that white play sand you ended up using to help out in the wet weather.

Yes. Quick Creet brand from = Home Depot’s. People keep asking me = Why are you adding white sand to red sand?? Because the red sand is clay based. The white sand keeps it from crusting up. When the sun comes out and bakes it. Just like Alabama Red Clay.

How far you normally put the pan from the pipe? Looks like a ways from your photos. Also, you normally offset to the right?

Coal Shell. Used by many. Keeps sets running. In freezing temperatures and wet weather. OK. How about this idea ? IF a southern guy could find some = unsented cat litter ? Dig trap bed. Put in Unsented cat litter. Cover with = Unsented Cat litter. Then a light coat of = native soil. Use rib bone to glaze. Just a thought. Would work. Just don’t know about cost or longlining with it

Looks like not enough pan tension on that k9 extreme.

That steel screen takes some getting used to also.

I may be misunderstanding the statement. You all realize that most cat litter clumps now adays when it comes in contact with moisture. It is basically a form of clay, silica and other odor neutralizing agents from what I understand.

That litter would lock onto your trap when it gets saturated with water. So the way I see this working out is if you bed in litter and cover with litter and it rains it will sandwich your trap in clay and it may not fire very well. The bottom layer would certainly help lock your trap into the bed nicely. If it gets cold and freezes you are done and out of operation.

They do sell an unscented litter. However most of it is clumping clay. Anything that absorbs oil or water would not be my choice.

Bob. You are right. Never considered the = Clumping part. Thought of = Small rock like = cat litter size. Coal shell is something I would like to try.

Bluegrassman. Pan tension is not the issue. I’m using 3 and 1/2 lbs Just fat fingered it. I ALWAYS take my left hand and go over the trap. I can and have done it with my eyes closed. Then I use rib to smooth real good. Then whisk broom to duff over it with dust. I just and use to MJ 600 Sterlings

Ouch on the fingers!
Got my fingers in a MB550 the other day. Surprised me but didn't hurt.
Worst I have been "hurt" by a steel trap was a 0 jump spring. Stuck my thumb in it and not sure if it got a nerve on the topside or what but it hurt bad laugh

What is in the welding rod tube in the trapping bag?

Thought you had wire lever NO BS traps?

Keep updating, I am learning wink
