Just bought a low millage 4x4 Silverado Z71 . Its a 2009 with 46,000 miles on it. I'm hoping to make it outlast my driving needs in the future. Can anyone recommend a good undercoating to have applied ? Or anything I need to avoid ? I've never had this done before and appreciate any advice you may have. THX to any who reply.
Forgot to mention it was undercoated after purchase by original owner. But that was 15 yrs ago.

Fluid film every year
it works I went to fluid film a very clean 2006 Nissan mini van this fall to find it had definitely been done before and that was why it was a nearly rust free 2006 in southern WI

I buy the gallon cans on amazon , they are around 45-50 dollars depending on exact time of the year
I haven't done the black but I could see where it would be nice under the body , I also do all up in the hood and fenders and in the doors and battery and anything metal that is not exhaust under the hood.
under the hood black might be less than ideal.
your first go round 2 cans on a truck one black one not might be the way to go
I use the Wool Wax gun it came with 3 jugs I fill them all then get started jus saves time
oh and you will be wearing plenty when you are done
waste oil would definitely work if done every year and do the same thing just a mess factory and possible smell factor
the fluid film has very little odor when first applied and none that I can tell later

My old 2007-350 standard was great. we "I spray mine with a mixture of used oil and diesel fuel in spray bottle.usually spray it let it sit for awhile and give it another coat.pull the rubber plugs out of the doors and give everything a coat.works really good." did that three times a year and that did work but now the fluid film is still there the next year you can seeit. I go for the fluid film in my new 2019 chevy, it is so much easier and $50 is doable every year. That is my vote......jk

when fogging doors make sure the window is rolled all they way up , I had to clean one window remembered on all the ones after that.
old habits of every time you work on a vehicle drivers window half way down
even though I had heard make sure your windows are up my long habit from when I worked in the tire shop got me , some 409 cleans it off it just takes a roll of paper towels and a a few scrubbings.
at the tire shop , half down for those windows they forgot to tell you had issues going back up it is embarrassing to lock the customers keys in the car or lose them.
when I fog I hold the trigger and work the want around till it starts coming out of vents, seatbelt slots and such then the entire inside of panel should have coverage the seat belt thing would be an issue with drain oil.

Just put a rocker panel on a 2016 Chevy Silverado..
7 years up here in the salt....
But had no love...meaning fluid film when it was new.
You want to do fluid film in May and October ..if you want to win

How about an undercoating shop ? Like Zeibart ect. No car lift and I am sure not into a hurry to get my big belly underneath it.
I'm looking at local shops and many different options as to materials.
At 15 years old it must surely have surface rust somewhere under it.
Anyone have experience with these situations. It just rolled 46000 when I test drove it. I really want it to be my last truck.
