I have an account but use very little.

How does one go about cancelling an account. Paypal doesn't seem to want to give up the information even though I have read through the website directions on security, etc.

There's a little cog icon in the top right, click it for "settings", scroll down and "select close your account."

When I deleted mine, I didn't tell them a thing. I went into my settings and first deleted my card info, any addresses, all personal info . An empty account . Lastly, then I deleted the whole account. Never let PayPal know. Just gone.

Good.

I deleted mine when PayPal let it be known from one of their board meetings, that they will fine customers who use the service to buy firearms and ammo. By logging into personal bank accounts and freezing assets if the fine isn't paid...something to the tune of $2,500 ...can't recall now exactly how much.

They began loosing client base so fast that they tried to reverse their rulings, saying it was an accidental decision. As Candace Owens said when she deleted hers, PayPal board meetings never make policy decisions "by accident". It was talked about and planned for weeks before they let the info loose. Their backpedaling hasn't done much good.

I deleted my account for the same reason some of you did about a year or two ago, but then lo and behold some companies that pay me for services will only pay through PayPal. So I had to restore my account. Wish I had another option.

I deleted mine after they froze our account over a "weapon" sale... We had been using paypal for about 7-8 years selling blacksmith/bladesmith work. This particular one a customer bought a custom forged kiritsuki kitchen knife..... A kitchen knife mind you... They sent payment and put in notes "payment for kitchen knife"... Paypal froze our account and locked out money for 180 days.. I deleted the account as soon as we got our money and have not used them since...

I cancelled my account after some charges showed on my bank card. Showed through Paypal. When I checked my Paypal account it didn't show any activity and when I contacted Paypal they had no explanation or seemed to worried about it. My bank returned the money and informed me that there had been other attempts to charge that account for limo service in Las Vegas of all places.

Thanks for sharing this info Sharon. I was not aware of what PayPal was or is doing. Not paying attention is my fault, it's PP's fault for trying to get away with doing things like this because some of us (me) were not paying attention.

CTRAPS, of course it is not any fault of customers. Customers shouldn't ever need to be concerned in protecting themselves from a financial institution whose sole business should be purely financial matters and not Marxist CCP regime police.

PP probably didn't even intend that new ruling to become common knowledge to begin with. They certainly never waved it as a title banner to everyone logging on to the site. I didn't know of it either until I saw a video of Candace Owens warning others about this sneaked pill in the hamburger tactic.

You shouldn't HAVE to police a financial institution to protect your rights, naturally yours as an American citizen.
