Page from 1962 issue of The Pennsylvania Trapper magazine 116,000.00 predator bounty paid from 1961-62 red, gray foxes and great horned owls. Interesting how coyotes were basically non-existent in PA then.

They had lots of pheasant to protect back then. In ‘62 in Penna.

Few people know that PA had better pheasant hunting than the Dakotas.

Days gone by...those folks got the job done with common sense.
Mike, I didn't know that...we had great pheasant hunting here in N. Illinois back in those days too.
I noticed that the feral cat population has gone up here...not good.

We had pheasants all through the winter. They would be in the orchards, hedgerows and corn left standing. We raised pheasants on the farm. One year we got the albino pheasants from the game commission, they stood out like a sore thumb.

Even southern Michigan had birds back. Deer werent really much of thing; the traditional deer hunting was still more a northern activity. Mid 70's is when the pheasants disappeared here.
