I only have a few but I know they are good because my little Montana specials are awesome.

Those were the traps the old timers taught me with. Still have and use a few.

I only have a few but I know they are good because my little Montana specials are awesome. The Montana is the most underrated trap out there.

I'd certainly agree- I had a younger guy ask me about them one time and I told him that as a rule of thumb, about anything John Graham put his name on was top notch.

I have over 100 of the old #2, #3, and #4 Montgomery dogless. Any low lever I converted into high levers. Have several dozen Montana #3s as well. My favorite coyote traps.

I like the Monty's and the newer version (Montana's) I have a dozen 1.5 monty round jaw. The Montana #3 is my favorite coyote trap and just got some #2's to try out next season.

The Montana 3s just have a round stock lug welded between the jaws about where the levers rest when spring. Because I only have offsets I do not know if the levers are the same or have a slightly bigger gap inside of them

Have some 4s, 3s and 2s. Most of the big ones seem to have a pan that is different then the one in the picture. They set higher. Some of the no2s have a pan that is like the one in the picture that has a rivet on it. The others don't have the rivet. The riveted pans set lower. You can't make the unriveted pan set as low and as flat. They all work but that one difference makes me like the early model better.
Thanks to Scott P. I added 2 dozen no2s to the arsenal a bit back. All sizes were low lever. A die grinder and a cutting bit fix them. Now all are high lever.
After adding an offset to the 3s and 4s I also thinned the jaws a bit to get the levers to go higher.
