I believe that this bill has to do with the protection of the beaver they are spending millions relocating to create wetlands.

WA land use is dictated by wetlands and shoreline.
All wetlands and contiguous.
The state has a large amount of mitigation banks.

Fortunately, stuff like this does not affect the sport.

Taxidermy mounts are exempted.
Interesting thing, When I testified in Committee, the Chair said there was a Substitute bill and that was what we were testifying on but the substitute bill has never been published so what is in that or if it even exists is supposition.

This legislation was so poorly crafted, the proponents of it didn't even know what it would or wouldn't ban.
It's dead for this year, but we must stay vigilant.

Technically not dead yet. If it isn't read onto the floor of the Senate by the end of the day on the 1/31 it will die.

It is never dead as long as folks continue to vote for the party that crafts this kind of crap.

It is sad that the population of knot heads on the coast can out vote the rest of the state. I know some great folks in the Eastern side of the state and they are not likely to support any of that crap.

It failed to make the cutoff so it is dead. Now we wait to see if we are going to be successful in killing the beaver bill. It has until the 5th to be get a second reading in the Rules Committee or it is dead also.

More of the same double standard when it comes to DC politics. CA can do whatever they want (also CO, OK, etc) within their state but if Texas tries to secure some areas of the border everyone loses their minds.

and even more surprisingly, many of those trappers will use the failure of some anti trapping, anti fur, anti gun legislation to justify continuing to vote for the folks that will continue to propose this kind of crap until they eventually prevail.
