I see these from time to time. This one online. Does not make sense to me.

https://lippardauctions.hibid.com/a...s---shotguns---ammo---bullets--brass---t

History of guns and inventory is unknown. Buyer can't see or inspect them online. Descriptions thin to non-existent. Must pay 10% buyer's premium, plus shipping plus?????? Seems to me with al the negatives, what a seller might get is far less than a face to face auction.

So unless this is a forced liquidation.........seller gets what they get........why do it?

This is what most auctions are around here now. It’s unbelievable how well everything gun related sells. There’s probably 1 a week with guns, ammo, reloading stuff. Very few deals if you’re trying to buy. Some have the buyers premium some don’t.

18-20% in our area…does not include shipping or state tax…if your local there is usually a pre-auction inspection a couple a days before the actual auction…you definitely have to have a bid price in your head that includes the aforementioned.

Lots of people have more money than they have time. An auction like these reaches far and wide to find those people. Check out the results at the end of the auction and you'll see why they do it.

We have auction company close that has gun auction every third month and gun prices are extremely high lots of current production guns going for more than they are on the shelf at gun shop 6 miles down road and still have to pay buyers fee on top of it if I was selling guns it’s definitely your best bet

Don’t waste the day

Not all auction companies are equal in the care they take in listing the items they sell in online auctions. Most throw up as many items as they can, with very few pictures and little to no description. It's why you can get some really good bargains, but there is some risks. In my experience, every auction company, i have asked questions of, has responded very quickly. However, the staff generally knows very little about what they are selling.

Sites like HiBid, ProxiBid and AuctionZip are platforms used by thousands of mostly very small, auction houses, to reach more customers. A lot of the small auction companies list their auctions across several platforms. You can use those platforms to search for auctions close to you. Most large firearms auctions allow you to examine the firearms at a specific time, before the auction. Some auctions that are both online and in person, for a fee, will provide you with a bidder, who can examine an item, video it and report on it in more detail. Many in person only auctions provide that service too, for a fee.

I personally enjoy and purchase from auctions a lot.

100 gun+ auctions here on a regular basis. You won't buy a gun at "check gunbroker" prices ever unless its a newer gun with a plastic stock.

If you wanna buy a wood stocked model 70 or 700, you better be ready to pay up.

Auctions, that only have 1 gun to a very few, have the best prices typically. Auctions with lots of guns run high usually. Big auctions attract lots of buyers. Auctions that are only listed for a short time, or on small websites, are cheaper too.

Small lots of ammunition, with nothing else related in the auction, often sell very cheaply. I've done very well on ammo in auctions like those.

I just got home with 11 lots from an auction today, of mostly antique tools, close to 100 pieces. Diane is excited because one of the items, we didn't notice in the listing, is a nice Osage Orange long bow. I only paid $3.00 for the entire lot.
