I have permanent A-FIB because they
never treated it (in time), they just gave
Xarelto and told me not to worry about it.

Now it's too late as too much time has passed
and the various treatment procedures can't be used.

Have had that procedure, twice. The first time watched on a screen. 2 stents each time in and out in less than an hour. Amazing how they can rebuild you. Take it easy for a few days and take your meds. old243

I had one stent placed in 2007. They went in thru the artery in the groin. I was lightly sedated and could see the screen very clearly. After the DR showed me the blockage, they increased the sleepy juice before they went back in to place the stent.

The worst part of the whole procedure was the fella holding pressure on my groin for what seemed like forever after they removed the catheter. I had a heck of a bruise for a while but no bleeding.

I had been diagnosed with A-Fib not caused by a valve problem. Several test and stress tests later, there was no indication of any blockage. The meds my DR put me on required that I be in the hospital for 3 days to be monitored. Since I was already in the hospital, my DR scheduled a couple more tests including the catherization where he found the 90% blockage of the widow maker and put in the stent that has kept me going. The medication helped but was not a cure.

Seven years later, I had the ablation procedure done and said good bye to A-Fib. They have made great strides in controlling A-Fib with ablation. That is one of the best health decisions I have made. I got off the rhythm meds and have had a normal rhythm ever since.

Good luck Walleyed.

Stick around. Someone's gotta keep Boco in check.

Wide awake & Laying on my back, on a VERY narrow,
and VERY short table for me at 6' foot, 3" inches.

The OP room prep nurse started bi-aching cause she couldn't
center me on the table.

She wanted me to sit at a certain place on the table, and
then lie down on my back & when I informed that her if I did,
I'd be hanging head & shoulders off the end of the table
but she insisted so down I went, and sure enough I was
hanging 2 feet off the end with her very near coming unglued
when the end result proved her very wrong.

It took her & 6 other nurses, to get me re-situated on the
table with a lot of wailing & gnashing of teeth by her for
"my" (her) mistake for being wrong.

Then they tape your arm/hand to a board to immobilize it
and you get some sort of sedative to chill you out but you
are wide awake, but the robotic equipment arm blocks your
view of the action.

Worst thing is eventually you have to scratch an itch on your
face or head but your hand is immobilized and the other one
has two IV's buried in the back of your hand & arm.

I have (2) bad hip sockets and laying on my back
agitates the nerves so there was that too.

The doc eventually sent a nurse to itch my eyelid & temple
to relieve my itch so all was good after a half hour
of itch torture.

Everything went fairly well. LOL !!! laugh

Glad you’re doing well now. I had the same type of heart cath a few years ago. Mine was unplanned. I was having chest pains so they decided to do a cath and had me on the table the same way. Arm strapped down and naked as newborn. I remember listening to the Dr. scared and nervous. Also it was very cold in the room. Second procedure they gave me a shot and o don’t remember anything.

My God Man, are you plunging beaver fat directly into your veins? I recommend a ribeye day to keep the Dr. away!

Get well soon Walleyed, you do realize there is a celebration in the beaver swamps knowing you are temporarily out of commission.

Year and a half ago I had a stent put in my right coronary artery. I had chest pain so I went in and I was having a heart attack. They kept me overnight and then did the stent in the morning, through a hole in my wrist. I was awake the whole time and it didn't take long. I didn't see any screens, they were all being viewed by the doctors and nurses. I was home before noon.

Most days I do not even think about it. crazy what medicine can do these days.

Glad to hear you're ok.

Growing up and living the first 53 years of my life in NYS, I have a soft spot for anyone living a rural life there.

Hope you get back on your feet soon!!!!
