Not me, but a friend of mine. He's been developing it for a while.

Pros I see:

-folds up and you can put two in your pants pocket
-cheap ($15.00 US)
-adjustable for different rod lengths
-never have a fish pull anything down the hole
-made in the USA
Edit: IT FLOATS!!

Uses Eskimo ice anchors. He sold 100 at an ice fishing show on the weekend recently

Looks like a good set up. We make a similar device out of scrap 2x4 and wire but for the guys who would rather buy than build its great. And at 15 bucks that's a steal of a deal compared to other devices out there.

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Thats what I thought. Price is great.

I have seen tons of videos of a rod going down the hold with those jaw jacker ones. The fact that it screws down is mint

I like it and will do well with that product.

I mean, the theory is the same as the jaw jacker. But its lighter, more compact, cheaper, and more secure.

More time for beer indeed Nessy!

Interesting idea.

But, I think I'll just stick with my Beaver Dams.

I wish those ice anchors weren't so dang expensive at $10 each. I just bought a new shack that has 5 grommets around the shack for anchors and comes with 2 straps to keep the walls from collapsing in the wind, guess how many anchors it came with. 6. That math isn't mathing for me.

This looks like a simple alternative to the jaw jacker, automatic fisherman and the new clam predator. I wish the video would've shown it in action, it looks like the rod could still get pulled down the hole if it comes out of the rod holder, no?

I agree, too complicated to set up compared to my Beaver Dams.

Those are just tip ups, no?

If so, it's a different product category as this sets the hook for you much like the jaw jackers that have taken over the sport

With species like walleye, I find they won't swim around and wait while you run over.

Yup, Beaver Dams are just tipups.

I've been reluctant to try any of those gizmos because it seems like they'd be a pain in freezing or drifting conditions.

But, these look to be as good an option as any I've seen.

if you had some of those ice screws that would go in wood you could make simple T 2x4 frames to put the same thing on if you wanted to run them in your ice house

if you pre drilled a hole they would probably go right in then cut the excess off the bottom

make sure the T is wider than the hole

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Good idea but I don't see it working very well with a jig and minnow especially the way that one is hooked. There is no movement and most fish could just pull on the minnow and set the thing off without even getting the jig in their mouth. Or worse yet, pull the minnow off the jig and not even set the thing off.

I can see it as a pretty good application for a bobber and a minnow though. Pretty limited application, but in the right circumstance it might be the right tool for the job. Good luck to him.

Honest question, are you guys aware of or use jaw jackers? Or awar that their use is widespread?

Almost everyone uses them for set lines here. Some tip ups too...they work great for pike.

But the rod setting mechanism isn't new. I use them all the time and they work great. I made mine. Work good.

This one he's designed it just lighter, cheaper, smaller and more secure

I'm sure all serious ice fishermen know about them. For various reasons, I'm reluctant to use them.

Some states don't allow an auto-hookset...maybe MN.

I like what I see Hutchy-Jaw Jackers are used all over the place here and I have personally seen them go down the hole many times LOL.

Needed to show a fish on. That should work on our 65 degree ice, too.

It probably works fine, but Im a little old school and I think setting the hook and reeling the fish in is what its all about....
