How's the meeting going so far?

Kotz meeting is going well. But the hardest vote is coming up today, Unit 23 caribou harvest is the issue. Kotz people are very passionate about their proposal to limit themselves to 5 caribou 1 of which could be a cow and eliminate all non-resident opportunity. So we will see how it goes. Would that limit the people around there in the villages to only 5? I know when I lived in Deering most of the families took a lot more than that and used all of it...

Not anymore, it was amended to 15 caribou of 1 can be a cow.

Largest share of harvest is from unit 23 and 22 residents. 15 bou is alot. If the herd can support that level of harvest it can support the small number of bou non res harvest. Has to be a lot less non res hunters these days.

300 Nonresident permits starting in 2025 for western arctic herd.
