I can't remember where but I saw a thing a where a guy would save his sac oil pods still full by layering salt, pods, salt, pods etc then at a later time take them out an milk them ...does anybody on here do this? What did you think of the sac oil from aged like that to fresh ?

For private use salting is an option for some gland and by product use. For commercial use I can't use them. Once the sodium penetrates the tissue it will no longer easily or ever break down and age with other ingredients. Fresh frozen sacs, thawed, then dried is the best use handling for oil sacs. Then they can be milked after drying. The milked sacs can be used after draining for other purposes and will not be compromised. If selling to a formulator be sure to tell them, you have salted your glands. If not dried and used fresh they will taint quickly in warmer temps.

When you do that the salt soaks up a lot of oil. It will turn yellow.
