Here in Pa you can only tap them in the middle of February with only 5 traps and only one week or so......jk

Depends how much they are exposed to ultra violet rays. Some otters are singed here in late Feb and March, others are fine.

They singe up in Feb here real bad. Lot of sandy creeks they seem to love to get in that sand and rub rub rub a dub the fire out of their fur, lol. May as well rub them down with sand paper.
Hauling them around in the bed of a truck exposed to the wind and sun singe's most of them, put them in a tool box or something to keep them in the dark and keep them wet long as you can as well. A dry otter riding around in the elements singe up quick.
Not my circus, not my clowns.

More otter singe is man made than natural lol.

I have never singed one, but have caught a few that were noticeably singed. Never had a pelt docked because of singe with Plott Fur, Jerry Lee, RP Outdoors, NAFA, or Groenewold.

During the Tibetan otter craze singe didn't matter. Life was good!
